Knowing what is happening here, knowing that so many people, including one TER GOD, have been compromised, it really is not wise to continue asking for references?  

I am a provider, I get reference requests on a daily basis and it is time to stop the practice!  Just does not work anymore!  Never felt comfortable with them anyways!

Time to reevaluate how we do things to keep ourselves out of harms way!

I agree that the reference model has been greatly damaged considering recent developments.  I also totally get your motivation for going UTR.  But what are our options if the reference thing is shot?  And do you think it's totally shot or that it can reclaim some integrity over time?  The single UTR lady I see I found through a very fortunate circumstance and I'd say the likelihood of finding other such associations is very slim.  I'm just wondering how do we all do this safely without some kind of a referral system?  Peace right back at ya!

references can still be a good starting point, but, as always, no explicit discussion of money or services, 1st visit (assuming step #1 checks out) will be social, perhaps a body rub/massage (at legit level), perhaps some DFK (nothing wrong with paying for DFK), until a mutual comfort level is reached between two people.  Verification services are always a help, particularly ones where you are verified by multiple people.

The area of the market that's hurt are the visiting providers/traveling hobbyist - very hard to know/trust someone who is visiting and secure a GFE session for a 1st time encounter.

One alternative for both providers and hobbyist is for hobbyist to ask an old favorite after a session for recommendations of other providers that she knows.  Hot chicks who like what they are doing often know others just like them.  After doing your research if you like the recommendation, you can then email or call her, let them know that you were referred by your old favorite, the other provider can talk to her friend and then you're in without any additional screening.  I have done in the past and it has always worked out for me.
