I was in a wide ranging conversation with a $250 provider last night in a $200 room in a 3 1/2 star Bethesda hotel. I noted there was not a fair yield in those economic terms but she told me it was better than it looked. Thanks to Priceline she paid only $42 for the room!
I have a hotel that if I get their Hotwire price they will subtract $7 from my next night(s) stay(s) if I cont. to book through them instead of the online sites which take 50% of the total. So I pay around 50-70 for an otherwise $200 room.
1- There is no set number to which there's a standard for low or high volume. 2- Maybe EVERY client she sees is a member of TER, so therefore nearly 100% of her dates review her 3- maybe those that aren't members she specifically asks them to join and do reviews
a- she's then making membership at TER grow- a good thing b- she's making sure her service stays great- a good thing c- and she's prob still low volume!- so get a life buddy
seriously now...who she sees when where and how often is not your business. All her reviews are good and she charges a middle of the road fee. So whats your problem? I don't see her clients concerned about how many reviews she has. Most of my clients are NOT Ter members, so I am reviewed less often than some other Ladies whos average client IS a Ter member. She was reviewed 8 times last month, good for her. I most likely saw as many clients as she did but mine do not write reviews.
Just like we always press the gentleman to "do their homework" we should do it too.
1. If you do a regular search on Priceline first, check out the star levels and locations and you will get an idea of where Priceline will put you. I almost always know when I bid what hotel I am going to get except when I get upgraded.
2. Usually 3 1/2 star hotels and up do not have key requirements to get in. If they do, usually there is a bar or lounge to meet in first. And if you are low volume meeting a person in the bar shouldn't raise any eyebrows.
3. Almost every hotel has a deposit policy, I use my credit card for check in and at the end of my stay use my debit card. Not holding of funds and no interest charges on my CC.
With a liitle bit of time, planning and traveler saavy, Priceline can make you happy.
If you book on one of those bid sites that is not the hotel/brand website, make sure you watch the front desk when check in.
I caught the hotel clerk typing in my complete address in their computer when checking in. I told them give my drivers license back immediately and to not put the information in their computers.
I don't want marketing mail showing at home in the mailbox.
The secret to limiting the surprises from Priceline is a website called biddingfortravel.com. Similar to this site, biddingfortravel collects input from a large user community to better illuminate otherwise hidden info. Before going to priceline, I got to biddingfortravel to find out what pricing levels are winnng and which hotels areavailable.
when I travel and have to get a room, I use priceline to get a great 3.5 of 4 star hotel for $50 - $70. The name your own price works very well. Check betterbidding.com and you can see what hotels are going for $$$. I usually know exactly what hotel I'm going to get.
Priceline has a kickass Iphone App. So now I can book on the go! A week after I downloaded the app they emailed me $25 off coupon for getting the app. Cool!
