And take a drive up to LaJolla!

From Cabrillo point you have a beautiful view of all San Diego and it is a great place for a walk. You can explore old coastal forts, walk down to the beach... See:

There are dozens of great places to eat, beautiful views. Rent a bicycle, ride around, see the boats. It's a great place for down time, unwind and relax.

Many excellent brew pubs in the SD area.  There's Karl Strauss, Ballast Point, Coronado Brewing, Stone, Green Flash, etc.  Also, many good restaurants in the Gaslamp District such as Strip Club - A Steak Place (https://www.cohnrestaurants.com/gaslampstripclub) where you actually grill your own steak and/or fish.   There's also a great Mexican restaurant called Miguel's Cocina (http://www.miguels-cocina.com/) on Shelter Island.

I think you were referring to "The Del," a/k/a The Del Coronado.  And you're right, it's a wonderful old, classic "White Elephant" from 1888 with a spectacular dining room.  Also where "Some Like It Hot" was filmed.
Another great place to visit near San Diego is La Jolla, a beautiful little town just north, perched on some cliffs over the Pacific, with nice shops and restaurants.  Great day trip.

Torrey pines state park, la jolla cove, rent a bike and cruise mission beach and mission bay. If you get in the water a wet suit is a must.

and I'll give a second to La Jolla.   Amazingly beautiful stuff for sale there if you have the piggy bank for it.

You'd be astonished at how rich some farmers are -- and don't show it.

Farming isn't like a children's book. I have a farmer client from the Fresno area who makes a million a year. We go on road trips to car auctions.
