How does one get started in the TS visits? I am TS curious, but have several questions. First of all I would not want a top, but a bottom. How do you get past all of the game playing, yet find out who I would like to see? Is it cool to ask over the phone or email if they top or bottom? I am not sure I could go through with it, but want to take a chance.
I also would like to take a TS to see a girlfriend of mine who's secret is to have a functional TS have intercourse with her. I think that would drive her nuts. I have read several articles that state that some TS became TS to see men, not women. However the thought of my girlfriend being done with a beautiful and functional TS just turns me on, because she will be wetting the sheets.

I've seen about a half dozen TS ladies. First, to become a TS, the person has generally had to convince a psychiatric specialist that 'she' feels herself to BE a woman in the wrong body. That being the case, she may wish to interact with women as a lesbian or with men as a hetero. Many, if not most TS, even as pre-ops, identify as women and prefer the bottom role. I have yet to see a pre-op whose ad doesn't claim 'fully func- tional', yet a great many aren't. High dosages of female hormones may inhibit erections. One wanted to use a dildo and another wanted to call in a homosexual friend to satisfy my desires. Your best bet is to ask.
The first part of your question is easy to answer. Just do it. The other parts are not so easy.
The sad thing about seeing a TS is the high probability that you will run into B&S or a rushed session. That you want a bottom may make it easier but some TS'es are top only. Most of my TS experiences, especially in NYC have been less than desireable. There are good TS'es who may provide what you're looking for, but don't be surprised to find dissapointment a few times before you find the right session. Check reviews and even then YMMV.
