I remember a couple of days , someone had mentioned about image search through google in one of the threads..
I agree with him that google images does throw up more fake pics than tin eye does... you just need to paste the pic link url... try it ... many times image seach on tin eye gives zero results
It's also great that you're spreading the word, so we can avoid these scam artists. Often Search by Image comes up with results and TinEye doesn't. Conversely, I've never seen a case where TinEye shows results and Search by Image doesn't.
I should also mention that if you have Firefox 5 or under (still not developed for Firefox 6), you can get it as an add-on extension (Search by Image by Google). This puts the search function within the contextual menu (right click) just like the TinEye add on and making it more convenient to use.
Or you could simply go here: http://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi and use your method, or you can even drag the picture to the search box. Hopefully, with TinEye and Search by Image, we will be well armed enough to limit getting ripped off by these scammers.
Whoa' there Cowboy!...All EG ad pics are "right click disabled". Now if one can screen cap the image, does this not change the photo information, compromising the effectiveness of the Google/Tineye search?...Lets face it, there are only about 5 locations where these fake pic skuzzbucktits are putting up misleading images, and EG is a big one, although BP & RB have them too, or am I missing something or over-thinking this?...Just "axe-in"...
You're getting ahead of yourself. There's a simple way around this other than the add-on "calore" mentioned.
Simply go to Firefox prefs. Where is says to enable Java Script, click on "Advanced." Uncheck "Disable or replace context menus." Now, you're good to go. Try it.....I dare you.
Btw, you'll get a message saying "Right click is blocked." Click "OK" and the contextual menu shows up anyway. Neat, huh? Also, with Search by Image, you can drag the pic to the search box, so no right click is needed.
(And FYI, Search by by Image will STILL recognize the pic even if saved as a screen capture).
Can't even get started with this method, maybe new version of Firefox (6.0) has different controls, don't see "preferences" anywhere. I run Firefox to download video and some pics, Chome does most of the other heavy lifting, but short on features. I run a 2-Monitor setup also. ----------------
