Wrote this on another board in response to a question about hobbyists getting arrested. I thought it might be of interest to those who think about LE issues:-
Generally in this business location is a trade-off, and of course, a lot of the rules that apply to GG escort locations also apply to TS escort locations. Outcalls nullify most of the LE issues, since the law has many rules protecting you from police entering your private residence for whatever reason against your will. ITs not worth the trouble for the cops when they can get many more clients with one go at an incall or street sting. But most hobbyists dont like to do TS outcalls, because what if she is not looking too passable on that day etc?
Incall in a good hotel tends to protect you a little better, the girls are at your mercy, since you know where they are staying, but they dont know where you live. So anything could happen to them if you tried to send LE, or worse, hung around the hotel to make problems. Especially in a nice area, since the t-girl fears that police would not hesitate to cart off a working girl to jail to "keep the neighborhood decent." So the TS knows if she starts anything, she is probably going to jail, regardless of whether you go to jail or not, or at the very least, a nice hotel might kick them out. I would say here though that I am constantly amazed (and appreciative) of how lenient hotels tend to be when it comes to prostitutes working there. It's laughable, it has to be the the money they make why they allow it so welcomingly. Lets face it, people use hotels for anything that they cant do at home, including lots of illegal stuff.
Motels and cheap hotels are iffy, police love to use those for stings, they are cheap, so they wont break tight police budgets, and the cops dont have to worry about the bust affecting the hotels reputation, because its a shithole anyway, and since these types of hotels tend to be in sketchy neighborhoods, they dont have to worry about the bust disturbing the ambience in the area, the way it would in a nice neighborhood.
And i dont have to mention the street tracks, that i have never used, but that are crawling with police. Generally police dont like 2 things that i have noticed over the years...Whores in the streets are a problem for them, because it is out in the open, brazenly flouting the law, encouraging pimps/criminals and bringing down property values etc. The second thing they dont like is prostitution conglomerates. Every single house I know that was doing well enough to become famous even among my non-hobbyist buddies, with dozens of girls, was shut down...from that place that jason had, NY Confidential, on the higher end, to the lower end like Julie's, or even domination houses like Rapture and Rebecca's. Neighbors complain, they are just simply making too much money illegally, many of them were not paying taxes, and they were also becoming known destinations among regular joes (as opposed to serious hobbyists) for an illegal activity (prostitution).
The law is much more lenient (european-like) when it is a lone girl or a small agency, in a nice hotel, where nobody can see them, and LE can convince themselves that the operation is cleaner looking, and can pretend they dont exist. One thing to bear in mind is that the same girls you get for 200 or 300 dollars in nice hotels, many of them were streetwalkers that took a bath, got in a cab from a ghetto to a nice area, rented a nicer room, and simply tripled the rates they charge hobbyists.
By the way, personally, and especially with GG escorts, I have them do outcall, as long as I think the girl is presentable. The problem with that is escort theives with access to your stuff when you're not looking (so i watch them like a hawk), and pimps coming with the girl and knowing where you live, let alone knocking on your door to "make sure the girl is safe". Drivers and pimps can often be criminals that protect the girl when she starts creating a scene or when they try to take your money with little or no real service and leave.
Of course, there are many non-location issues that affect LE risk. For instance is the ad on craigslist or Eros? I have never heard of an LE bust that had an Eros ad, I dont know if its because its expensive (cops budgets again), or its too much trouble for the cops, or if Eros has a screening method or what. Craigslist is free and instantaneous, not to mention the street, where all it takes is for a female cop to put on a mini-skirt to walk out onto the street and start hauling in johns. Does the provider have reviews from reputable reviewers? Is the provider well known, do they do porn?
Another thing is that its unlikely that a cop would pose as a TS in order to do a sting. They would only be catching a few "freaks" like us. Its much more value for their time and money if they set their trap for the many more hobbyists that want GG prostitutes. Most TS busts are either street walkers or TS whorehouses that get busted. And if the provider has a thick latin accent on the phone, as many do, I just phsychologically feel more safe, since more sting cops are white or black than latina, and if they are latina, they wouldn't have the thick accent of a recent arrival.
After a few years, you learn what to do and what not to do.

here's the original question:

I've heard a few times where escorts have gotten busted by undercover Dtecs, and that's something I can see happening.
1. I am wondering how often are the roles reversed, and the "John" (person going to see the escort), gets busted?
2. If this is a common occurance, how can one avoid this? Any suggestions or recommendations from past experience (besides not going to see the escort)?
3. Hotel or an apartment? I don't do this a lot, but I'll always try to go to a hotel, rather then a house. I just think, it must be so hard for the police to do a sting in the hotel. Wouldn't they need to also get the okay from the hotel? And what reputable hotel would allow busts to take place on their premises? Also, all that time and expenses paid, just say no one comes to the hotel?
I tried searching for this, but anyone who has advice or can shed some light on this, it would be nice. I don't do this alot, but if and when I do, I'm really nervous. Now thinking about getting in trouble with the law or police, it makes me definitely shy away from it.
