Very unfortunate.  There is not much to the story unfortunately.  When Paulina Ibarra was murdered it was all over the news and thats several blocks away towards Santa Monical and Normandie.

That area isn't safe.  Maybe a year ago, and only a block away from this, an older woman was shot and stuck in an SUV and the killers got away.  A few blocks down the road (and I forgot the guys name) but think he was an actor accused of murdering his wife.  He shot himself in a flea bag hotel.   Three or four blocks the other way, maybe 4 years ago, two dudes tried to rob me.  

That area, at least when I use to cruise around was pretty popular for TS girls working in the street.  There use to be a specific corner on Lexington close to Gower where the curb had limited standing room for girls....late late into the night and morning.  Its been at least a year but I bet its still busy.  One day I was cutting through the area and drove down that street.  I noticed a for sale sign across the street for 1/2 of a home which was a duplex.  I stopped and picked up the flyer in the tube on the sign.....2 bedroom, one bath, carport with a view of working girls every night...$695K.

Got to love LA to live here!

Lexington and Gower.
I used to live at Lexington and Wilton and there would be police cars every minute and gun shoothing everynigth,.

There where Cholos (latin gansters) runing trough the private alley next to my window and fights every nigth...didn't notes it when i first move there because i was traveling a lot back then, but when I realize it I move the same week to where I live now, more up scale and very safe neighborhood.

Poor girls that have to walk on the street really, specially on winter wearing those lil dresses.

I see a girl near there on Lexington, but closer to HIghland.  I think the further east you go on Santa Monica the worse the neighborhood gets.

Nope...I sure hope its not a girl that I know who stands at that corner (or did a few years back) every night very late.  She lived a few houses up from that area on Gower.  As India mentioned, the chulos or mexican gang thugs are thick in that area.  I wonder why they will not release the name?  My only feeling is maybe it was a provider who was not from the US and had no valid identification?  Thats the majority of the girls in that area.  If you decide to go there, be careful, even in your car.  If a LE notices you circling, be prepared to see the bubble gum lights in your rear view mirror.

can you get a citation for "making more than one round trip in your vehicle within a 5 block radius"?   LOL

It seems that detectives are leaning toward a "serial Killer" theory in this case, since the suspect resembles the same as a previous TG murder...

That specific area happens to be the area where the dog walkers/umbrella gals live and work.  They do not do anything at night however.  If you drove through that area during the day, one would say its a decent neighborhood.  The homes and apts are old but most of the area is nice.  The sad part is it takes only a few blocks for it to change for the worse.  As a general rule, the further east you go on SM Blvd from that area, the worse it gets and fast.  Be safe.

As a former streetwalker that converted to a professional companion(high class call girl) Santa monica blvd is so not worth the time or the energy. Not to mention the risk of arrest and the wolves that are out to rob you or kill you. Hence this very tragic story.

No they can't do that, driving down a street more than once is not illegal, but don't doubt that they will try to, if they do all you have to do is make a complaint.

When I moved to LA, it took some time to get use to the helicopters.  They are out 24/7.  As for that area, I too use to drive around till early morning and never have a problem. Being a bit older, I guess I get nervous about it now.    Good call, if you see a heavy presence of LE, go home.  You never know and its always smart to use some common sense.  Maybe 3 years ago or 4, when I was not too worried about LE, I took a taxi over to the area you reference where Paulina Ibarra was murdered.  I get out of the taxi, I'm walking up to that apartment building and a car speeds into the gated parking lot, followed by a Yellow Taxi.  The taxi then stops, two guys get out with guns.  Unmarked under cover police and they arrest whoever was in the car.  Needless to say, I did not run but ran to my scheduled appt on the second floor of the building and locked the door
