I was wondering if there were places in the community where you could visit with a Tranny?

You can go to a oriental "spa", massage "parlor", or lingere shoppe for straight women, is there something like that for tranny's?

Just out of curiosity, when did it become acceptable for for a man and/or hobbyists to refer to transwomen as "tranny's? Did I miss something? Did the "community" send out an "It's okay to refer to a girl as a "tranny" memo? Sure, I am going to upen up a "tranny spa/massage parlor/lingerie shop so "tranny chasers" have a place to "shop." Hell, I will have a popcorn stand for the guys that cant decide which "tranny" to "pick." maybe the guys who already have "tranny's"," can take his tranny to the "tranny shop" without being embarrassed...

I have often asked any Transgendered Gal I have met - what is acceptable terminology and what do they prefer.  Tranny has often been considered acceptable in their eyes, even though I do not use it for the connotations I think you are inferring.
Another question - are you comfortable with girl vs gal or woman.  Not quite acceptable in today's culture for non cross gendered gals ( not to sure if I have this terminology correct ! ).
And even gender identity disorder (gender dysphoria) might not be all encompassing as it once was - as my understanding is that it is defined as the discomfort of being born one gender ( physically ) but identifying  more with the other.  It seems to me here that many of the Transgender Gals are not uncomfortable and perhaps even enjoy and would not change who they are ...

I suppose "what is acceptable terminology" is relative and changes from girl to girl. I do believe however, most of us tolerate the word tranny (I don't), as opposed to accepting the word. Shemale for example means a boy who dresses up as a girl to conduct sexual acts for pay. Some girls tolerate the term for various reasons. One reason being this is a term common to the men who fancy us. What search word(s) do a guy interested in transsexuals google? Yes unfortunately, "shemale" is a common search word.

Same as one of my customers stating something like; "well, ive been with real girls before, but never a tranny." I think in most of our eyes, we consider ourselves female. So in my eyes there are 2 different types of women. Genetic girls (GG's) and Transgirls (TS or Tgirls, bla bla).

As far as gender dysphoria, its simple. There are 2 general categories of gender variance (there are many sub-categories for each). They are; "gender expression" and "gender identity."

1. Gender expression; This includes crossdressers, transvestites, drag queens etc. Most gender expressionists can identify with their feminine sides and frequently do it for sexual gratification. I think in most cases, gender expression is beautiful as well as relatively harmless.

2. Gender Identity; This is a person who identifies with a specific gender, regardless of their genetic composition.

Gender Dysphoria can no longer be exclusively defined based on the "harvey benjamin standards of care." With the advent of The Human Genome Project, it is being proven each and every day that gender identity is more than just a mind set. It entails genetic composition as well as many other variables.

All I know is, thank buddha for making me a transgirl as opposed to a genetic girl. I would hate to be a "bleeder (breeder)" what with the 5 days pre, 5 days post and the actual 5 day cycle...seems genetic women are good to go only about half of every month. Girls like me can  potentially be ready, willing and able...for the entire month.

In order for all to be on the same page...what terminology is appropriate....

I can't claim to be the spokesperson for "how to address a transgender individual" however, most of us speak in female pronouns so...call us girls in any public environment...in this professional setting, transgirls, tgirl, transsexual girl/woman...all fine for me. I dont like the "T" in front of "girl" for myself. Outside of EROS and TER, I am a woman to society, not a transwoman

First of all, no there's no places that offer t-girl services.  It may surprise some, but our little niche in the sex world at least when I do a search on CL is about 1% of the total market.  Check the numbers in your town.  In San Deigo we have about 150 t4m ads and about 15,000 w4m ads.

Terminology:
Some of us consider the term tranny to be sort of a derrogatory ghetto term.  It, along with shemale, ladyboy, etc are mainly acceptable as porn marketing terms.

Just as "tranny chaser" is kind of a slur on guys who like transsexuals.

Basically trannies don't like to be called trannies unless they are calling another tranny a tranny. Got it?    Giggle.

I sometimes call myself a "boygirl" in advertising, because that's what I am.  Part boy, part girl, part both, part neither, I'm a transsexual.  Not in transition, but transcending gender.

She, her (not "it")

When referring to men:
Trans Admirer

Guy, he, him (not "it" unless referring to his endowments)

This guy is out shopping for prostitutes and some PC prostitutes on this board rush to tell him he's immoral for using the word 'tranny'.  I've never heard of any negative connotation attached to the word, 'tranny'.  To me It sounds more like a term of endearment like love, honey, or sweetie.

The best thing to do is call around and ask the various businesses you are interested in what services/products(if any) they provide for your TG lady friend...in Chicago, there are several(including mine of course) that cater to the desires and needs of ANY individual...in small town USA that may not be the case, but call ahead anyway...DFK, Rachel

I just had this conversation with a gg friend of mine and yes, she hates (her words) being referred to as a girl. Shes a woman, not a 'little girl'...she says confidentally.

I believe it depends on where a "girl" is in her transition. This may be a shock to many of you however, most of us probably were forced one way or another to go through puberty as a boy.

That being said, hrt (hormone replacement therapy) in some ways puts a transgender person through somewhat of a 2nd puberty. Take me for example (oh I love the way that sounds, "take me!"). I have been on hrt for about 2 years now. Although I have the mind of an experienced business woman, my thought process as well as my sexual prowess is more like that of a teenage 'girl.' So in essence, I have become "boy crazy." Referring to men as boys and girls as girls allows me to explore sexually and keeps the youthfull innocence that many of us feel we didn't have a chance to experience in our early and mid teens.

Actually what happened in both you and Jamie's post is you both got offended by the threadstarters use of the word 'tranny', yet never defined what the negative connotation is.  You fall back on arguing that 'the community' doesn't like the word.  I'm not sure which community you refer to, but the few trannies I've known personally really don't care if they are called trannies.  The only apparent negative connotation is that you become offended by the word.  All you have done is displayed that you are easily offended, yet give no reason other than you do not like the word, 'tranny' or that it "isn't acceptable" which is another way of wording "isn't moral", so yes you did in fact imply the original poster isn't moral by shaking your finger in his face for using the word 'tranny'.

The word you allude to in your analogy, 'nigger', has a historical connotation attached to it.  A 'nigger' is historically a black slave, ie a fellow human being viewed as not human, but rather a piece of property inferior to the owner.  The word, 'tranny' has no historical connotation attached to it other than application specific to a transsexual.  'Tranny' is an abbreviation, not a dehumanizing term.  Much like I can call my l friend, "Constance", "Connie" without her getting up in arms, I see no negativity associated with calling a transsexual a 'tranny'.  If I'm in err, feel free to give a brief history of the word, 'Tranny' and where it historically is used to dehumanize transsexuals.

Actually, no offense was taken as my message(s) are intended for guys on this sitee who are here to have fun, learn a little and more importantly, love a little. My use of the word community was used in a sarcastic manner, based on the original posts' reference to the word. Not an argument to fall back on as you've stated. I am not aware of any trans "community" to speak of. If there were a trans community, we probably wouldn't have been left off the recent bill to protect gay, lesbian and bisexual people from job discrimination. I believe we as a "community" do not exist as most of us are probably too self absorbed and narcissistic to get together as a collective group and have a voice. However, thats another topic all together.

Explaining to a self proclaimed "newbie" that many of us do not like to be called "tranny" by a genetic male is far from questioning his morality. Too call him immoral would imply he was going against traditionally held moral principals. That's just silly. Besides, the negative connotation of the word doesn't have to be based on any historical connotation...only the way it is used in the streets by non tolerant and/or non accepting people is enough. When you walk in my heels and experience it, I will listen to your opinion.

I don't base my opinion on the few trannys you have personally known. I base it on the opinions of the 100's of transgender friends i have grown up with and live amongst both in the past as well as in real life...now, in the present...today. Most of them tolerate the word, just like some of them tolerate shemale and such, as I suggested in a previous post in this string. Acceptance is another thing. A historical connocation isn't needed to know that most of these people do not like being referred to as a tranny by a genetic male.

The only thing you said in your original post  that is accurate is the venom is in the intent, not the word. I didnt debate your message, I didnt debate your choice to use the word prostitute(touche, lets call a spade a spade..personally, i get excited everytime I hear the word). I didnt bitch about the childish name calling, as you called me a pc prostitute, in fact I found it amusing. I find all your negative connotations in all of your posts amusing. Here's another memo you didn't get.  Just did a search on L.A. CL a few minutes ago for "t4m tranny" and found not one or two but dozens of posts, same for "t4m shemale."  These are "transgendered girls" who are advertising themselves as "tranny" and "shemale."  You're certainly entitled to take offense at these terms but it's clear that a large number of working girls don't.

So you prefaced your reply with the red angry face because you were not offended?  I don't believe that.  I do believe however after re-reading your post that there was a tone of sarcasm regarding the use of 'community' and the error there is mine.

Negative connotations on words do require a history, otherwise there can be no such thing as a connotation to the word.  The word has to accumulate a history of use for diminishment otherwise it's meaning is only literal, so I stand by that statement.  Perhaps there are volumes of people offended by the term, but I categorize those people with 'checkout clerks' that need a false sense of prestige offered by the job title, 'sales associate'.  My feeling is that offense to a label often is rooted in the listener's lack of self esteem or insecurity about themselves otherwise that person would not need to hear what they want to hear to validate their status in the eyes of others.

I called you a PC prostitute because that is what you are.  You sell yourself for money which makes you a prostitute.  I use the acronym PC to mean 'Politically Correct' because you are trying to control the terminology used by people which is the process of political correcting.  It is also used to describe Jamie as she went so far as to type a politically correct dictionary of trans-terms.

Truthfully you have no idea what I think of prostitutes.  You claim I have disdain for prostitutes and sex for pay and have clearly defined it, yet I have not done that anywhere in any posts.  I challenge you to present your evidence.  If the keystone argument you have is that I presently choose to watch porn online for sexual gratification, that is a weak case.  You have only evidence to the fact that I watch porn and think escorts too expensive for me and I have no idea how that is negativity against prostitutes.  I've hired several prostitutes in the past and have reviewed most of the girls positively.  I've taken time to help promote the girls I thought admirable in performance.  I have no disdain for prostitutes.  I've dated three in my personal life and have done it myself.  

Truly I don't see what your 'tolerance' to my opinions has to do with anything.   I don't post looking for your approval.  I usually post because I'm opinionated about certain items that arise on this board.  Our lives do not overlap anywhere except on this board.  You have no administrative power here and neither do I.  Your lack of tolerance to a differing opinion is your problem, not mine.

I disagree.  You accuse me of minimizing prostitutes, yet continue to post retorts to me ad infinitum.  My feeling is you are very opinionated and want your opinions recognized as you feel it to be a source of personal strength and part of your identity.  If you chose to call my differing opinion minimization, so be it.
