I recently picked up a pretty bad virus on my PC by doing a simple photo search on Google...And, I mean really bad as, I had windows popping up every 5-10 seconds...A friend of mine who is a computer expert fixed it in just a few minutes by re-starting my PC, putting it in safe-mode, creating a new user name (he saved all my files first from my primary user name), re-starting it again and deleting the first user name and then simply clicking on the new user name...The virus was 100% gone and I haven't had any problems since...He said this simple technique typically works with most viruses but may not work with all of them out there...I know how much of a pain getting a virus on your PC can be so, I just thought I would share this...I hope this helps.
I picked up the system tool virus visiting a shemale tube site ... it has been a bitch to clean up and it continues to re-invent itself. Fortunately I use an old laptop for only adult browsing and entertainment.
I have used various malware applications as well as steps recommended on tech boards.
Anyone else run across this virus or one similar?
I, too, use macs exclusively, but my mac has been attacked visiting tube sites. Through my ISP, I downloaded the latest Norton suite and i regularly get notices that it has stopped attacks.
but you are not immune to viruses... In fact they tend to be more devastating when they hit you.
You may be less likely to get infected but when you do... it's pretty bad! Especially with virtualy no way to clean it...

The fake antivirus apps that take over your machine are an utter bitch to deal with!!!
The first thing I would try is doing a system restore to a date/ time before the infection... In some instances this feature is disabled by the virus but if not it is the easiest fix. If you cannot access system restore then try logging on as another user with admin rights and trying again...
If the system restore is not possible the best solution is to format and reload the OS... never know what might be creeping around so it's better safe than sorry!

I was curious
So i went tubing and sure nuff some one tried to back door me! In this instance it wasn't the kind i would have preferred so i did a little research and all i could ever suggest is the standards. Always update your antivirus software, always update your os, and if you know you got an infection write down the name of it. You could google the symptons even to find out more information if you don't have the name. It's possible you could very well get a specific tool to remove only that infection and save the day. Safe surfing
I currently have anti-virus/malware software installed, plus I use Firefox with both the Adblock Plus and NoScript extensions. I keep them both up to date, and so far, they've been pretty successful in keeping nasty shit out (especially NoScript; viruses seem to really like using JavaScript to get their hooks into your files, and when you combine them with popups...).
I ran into that repeating ad virius,i ended up stripping the whole computer down to the system tray and reinstalling. Since then I run spybot and webroot, so far they have blocked any attack.
i've hit a lot of those porn and TS vid sites, they have tried to autmotatically load a virus if a PC or laptop isn't antivirus protected. i hate McAfee's freezness and slowness with a passion but i does help with instant virus protection. i prefer Norton though.
