From what i can tell, you posted in the right place, and although i am not in your area, of course you are welcome to reach me, if ever you get into the DC/Md area, love...
A few things i can offer.... Some people are very specific about either TS or TV companions... the two are different degrees of gender expression, and only TS women will usually fully "transition" - legally, medically, socially, and live the rest of our entire lives in every aspect as the women we are, forever.
The term "lifestyle" may be regarded by some of us as socially inappropriate, as real TS women make the changes we do, based on a deeply aware core gender identity issue, originating in most cases, years before sexuality, or "lifestyle", were ever factors, for most of us...
Some of us are natural transtitioners (natural features, extreme training in fitness and yoga, and only hormones), others that can, or wish to, will get everything possible from facial reconstructs and body contouring, hip, buttock augmentation, breast implants, and many genuinely female identified TS women - will go all the way - thru full "gender reassignment", down below the waist to complete (the physical) part of our "transitions"...
Some will remain "non-op", (no gender reassignment surgery) but, will still fully live the rest of their lives in their 100% 24/7/365 female gender, legally, socially, and professionally forever...
TV's often have many of the same characteristics, but less often "transition", may sometimes begin hormones, even get implants & some reconstructions, & some may even switch between "normal" male modes, and their female persona, depending on life, other professional interests, social strata, demographic, and may often also have a very erotically/fetishistic underpinning to their gender expression, as TV women...
Some TV's, and even very advanced CD's, & even some drag performers (often gay males) may also decide to fully transition in gender, if their core gender identity is strong enough to motivate that. As a general rule, TV's, p/t CD's, and/or drag artists are NOT TS females, although there may be some that market themselves as such, in erotic arts and escorting.
As far as providers go - the TER is a good forum that seems to provide some mature and reasonably good oversight, and helps the "industry", as it were, to police itself by using reviews & ratings systems. It is not always accurate, as both providers and reviewers may sometimes engage in more personally motivated, or even competitive means, that may not 100% serve either the genuine seeker, or the genuine provider to the best interest.... but that is not the rule and the mods here seem very diligent about keeping a good civilized forum running with good etiquette...
My own example of a couple of years ago - was listed as fake here by others that did not know me, but as i had worked with certain types of clients for years, that did not ever post on the TER, so i had no review data, and lost a few good contacts as a result of that tiff (it was all eventually removed from the forums by admin) - so i have to say it is not always a 100% reliable information source, but is nonetheless, as close to it as they can manage, given the mass of information they must process, and clearly, one of the very best erotic information resources available in the world.
When seeking a good connection, whether it be EROS, or BP, or other site, i would personally suggest to make sure you find the ads that are the least crude, the least vulgar, the most well written, forthright, and mature, and that seem more down to earth (if that sort of thing appeals to you), especially as you are new to this.
Some providers will not wish to see New or First time seekers at all. Others that may be fakes or hooligans will wish to only take advantage of your lack of knowledge to simply use and abuse you for the short time they are willing to spend with you, and what they can get $$$, and be totally "transactional" about the whole entire process before kicking you out the door...
Those that list as "GFE" providers will not always be so "transactional", and may be willing to spend real quality time with you in a much more relaxed, warmly human, and more openly sharing manner, love...
Use the TER to cross check review value and validity of the provider, if you run across something that you think interests you, but want to do more due diligence before contacting them.
Use caution, always... If you talk to girls that are rude, short, only focus on the gift, or change amounts prior to meeting, are unwilling to be warm, open, down to earth with you, help you have a better understanding, or allow you to express the things you look to find, or answer even basic questions, and do not ask you some important screening questions in a relaxed, friendly, and unhurried manner, i'd simply advise moving on to the next, until you find someone that is willing to give you more than 1 minute of rushing you to make an appointment with them, and that ideally has been well reviewed in some form or another..
Always check the areas where providers are located in terms of residential demographics.... There are clearly areas in every city, that all of us would wish to avoid as both providers, and seekers...
I tend to shy away from really graphic sex talk on the telephone, but there are ways for two people to discreetly discuss what you want and what we can give or what we will or won't do, in a good mannered and respectful fashion...
Many good ads will list kinds of services, or be clearly obvious what kind of woman - top - bottom, versatile, etc, and if not, is the provider willing to tell you honestly if you should ask them. I also do not ever list my rates on my ads, but that is just me - many providers do, and i would rather create a nice ad, well written, and not detract from it by listing rates on that page because i think it can take away from a good listing, or make it too businesslike & impersonal - but that is ONLY my personal taste & style of doing things, not a judgement call on anyone else...
There are providers like TS Rachel for example (see her reviews and links) that have their own sites, and will openly list some or all of their services and rates, and yet do so in a very elegant and up front manner...
EROS, BP, possibly some Verified Playmates Sites, Geisha Affair, and here at the TER are your best bets as far as i know, (there are more but that's what i know) and even if you have to sift through dozens of ads, to find one that appeals to yuour tastes personally, isn't fake or rude or rushed, then hopefully you will find a good one, if you are patient and diligent, and treat the providers with warmth or gentlemanly kindness, when you establish first contact.
There are many reasons why people conduct themselves in the erotic arts, and in the manner they do... Many are deep survival motivated, & have to turn numbers to keep off the streets, and have any hope of surviving "transition". Others may have a combination of love and respect for their arts and clients, and deeply care about return visits, special friendships, or getting good reviews.
That's my .02 worth... there is so much more, but this has been long enough, and i can only hope it may be even remotely helpful to some... feel free to PM me if you, or any of the others here, wish more open dialogue, or this has raised more questions that you want simply and directly answered...
Best of Luck, & Safe Travels Always,
LoveRespectForever, and....
Namaste'
