I was debating this video on her performance on facebook, everyone and admirers seem to be proud of her, which I agree. But I don't consider her as a talented singer just because she sing with man and woman voice, most asian tranny can do that, and thats not a talent. I would be proud if she stick on woman voice and only tell people thats she is transgender after she finished singing. In my view, as a transgender showing a man voice is not a talent, its created humor to some people especially those who close minded, even the person who uploaded the video on youtube called it " woman or man" so there is no transgender mention in the video, some people mock fun of her. I really feel that by singing with a man voice is kinda make fun of herself, and Im really sad and she didnt realize that she just made some stereotypical performance, thats performance is suppossed to be drag queens performance other than transgender. But we never know what she is up to. I only give her credit for singing on television and having a thick skin. You may disagree with me, but I stick to my opinion...xoxo
I agree that it would have shown more actual talent if she stuck with her feminine voice(then done "the reveal")...especially if she showed a nice vocal range, but in the world of "reality" and "shock" tv, she went with the Maury Show moment and did what she felt was best for her...hope it gets her far though, as I don't want to stop anyone from being successful in whatever they choose to do...as far as the negative comments...small minds can only say what they think will make them feel better about themselves...sad but true...hugs, Rachel
No offense to anyone here, but I spend a lot of time in Thailand and their attitude towards transgenders is completely different than here in the States. They are primarily Buddhists, and as such don't have the repressive attitudes towards sex and sexuality that Christianity puts on people here. They don't feel the to hide it as much, and are generally an accepted part of society. This is why people say Thailand has the most transsexuals in the world. They don't really have the most, they just have the most open about it. You can see what I'm saying when you look at the audience reaction, they're not judging, they're cheering.
That being said, she is an accomplished singer. She competed for a spot on Venus Flytrap, which is an all transgender girl group in Thailand, after 2 of their members left for personal reasons. She won a spot, but the group lost their recording contract not long after.
You can also see videos of her other performances on her webpage. She sings many songs completely as female, and even a few as a male.
Just a long winded post to say we can't judge her by US standards.
