I understand. Your first point makes a lot of sense.
Maybe no one has ever expressed desire to go to one before simply because maybe it hasn't been brought up to anyone's attention. For every poster who demonstrated interest by asking who won, who was there, or for pix, etc., there are probably five to ten lurkers who might also be interested. ... I, for one, would certainly had attended given some notice.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with escorting but today, Aug. 1 2004 there will be a TS pageant at the Radisson Wilshire Plaza Hotel if any of you are interested in that sort of thing.
Radisson Wilshire Plaza Hotel
3515 Wilshire Blvd. (At Normandie)
LA, CA 90010
Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004
7:00 pm
Tickets at the door are $25.
Okay, it starts in a couple of minutes from where I'm sitting, so all I can ask at this point is: WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE -- ANYONE -- GIVE NOTICE OF THIS EVENT SOONER ???!!! I might have driven the three hours to attend it. ![]()
And, yes, it is on topic. ![]()
Just goes to show that you should ALWAYS read the TER boards first thing in the morning!!!
LOL Anyway... it was a lot of fun!!!!
TS,
Yes, tell us how it went and who was there. Maybe I'll attend the next one, given some notice that is. ![]()
I was at the pageant, along with a lot of the LA transgender community. The winner was Maria Roman, one of the most beautiful girls you will ever see , and a very lovely girl named Vee came in second. there was one gal in the top ten who should have won, she was a real star!
They have been announcing this pageant every week for the last month at Peanuts. And the promotor has had flyers up around town, at Peanuts, the Lodge, The Yukon and elsewhere for the same time. I don't know what you boys have been paying attention to if you missed out on them all. ![]()
if you want to be put on an email list so you can get updates, send an email to [email protected] and request that you be added.

I would have loved to attend the event, but not residing in Los Angeles, or for that matter, frequenting Peanuts with any regularity, someone such as myself is highly dependent on posters such as yourself announcing it. A few hours notice simply can't and won't cut it with me. I have to ask for time off, or get someone to hopefully fill in for me at a moment's notice, on top of having to drive for some three hours.
... Allanah Starr -- in that other popular forum -- gives notice of at least three or four weeks about an upcoming event. I believe she gave a TWO MONTH notice about her latest event held last week in New York.
Please feel free to announce anything such as a TS Beauty Pagent as early as possible next time.
Thanks! ![]()
Any pictures of the girls anywhere ? Are cameras or camcorders allowed at such events ?
I just jumped over to that * other * forum, and Allanah is already announcing something for September 26th.
See?
SEE ?!
That's how it's done. That's notice. I'm sure many who visit this forum would work to make it to a southern California TS event if given ample notice. ![]()
The reason I didn't post about it earlier was that I didn't know if I wanted to let people know about it. Simple as that. And besides, as Felicia has said, most everyone that wanted to know about it already knew about it from the many announcements and flyers that were handed out.
Also, Allanah is the one putting on her own party. So she has a stake in getting as many people there as possible. I was not, and am not, in charge of the pageant.
With this far advance notice, I assume you are going to her party, right Piqued? No excuse not to now.
TS,
Huh ? Why wouldn't you want anyone to know about it ? What up wit dat ? Was it a private event ?
And, no, not everyone that wanted to know about the event knew about it -- Give me a minute to see if I can come up with at least "ONE" glaring example of a regular TER poster who doesn't reside in Los Angeles County that wished he had been notified of such event ... Announcements and flyers were apparently targeted and circulated amongst a very small circle. For many of us, our immersion of what is going on in the TS world stops at our monitor. The internet might be the best thing since sliced bread, but it can't cover everything.
I would love to attend Allanah's event, but truth be told, I have never been to New York. My next visit to Peanuts will be my third, and I'm still working out the kinks on that front. I don't want to go to New York for just one event and then have to fly home right after. The point I was trying to make is that she gives ample notice of her events so girls (and TS admirers) can schedule properly.

1) No, it was not a private event. It was open to the public. I didn't know if I wanted to let people here know about it because I didn't want to be nervous about who was watching me. Fair enough? Besides, no one on these boards has ever expressed a disire to go to one, so I wasn't even sure if this information would be welcome here.
2) I didn't say "everyone" that wanted to know knew about it. I said "most everyone". The fact is: announcements were made, flyers were handed out, word of mouth was spred around. It is not anyone else's fault that you or anyone else's immersion into the TS world stops at your computer screen. If someone wanted to take the time to find out about such events, all it takes is a little effort.
3) The point I was trying to make about Allanah is that she has an interest in promoting her OWN party as much as possible so she can cover costs, etc. As for schedualing, most people don't need a full 2 months to go to a club for one night or to decide to go to a party, or some other kind of event. I realize that same day notice is short, but not altogether impossible. And besides, I listed my reasons for doing so above.
I understand. Your first point makes a lot of sense.

The Queen of the Universe Pageant is November 7 2004 at 7:00 pm at the LeMeridian Hotel in Bevery Hills. Tickets are 25.00 at the door.
this should give every one interested enough advance notice so that they can either attend, or make up some excuse. ![]()

Thank you, Felicia! It falls on a Sunday (yuk!).
"Queen" leads me to believe that this pageant pertains to drag queens and CDs. Am I off ? Queens I don't want or need. I'm strictly in admiration and smitten over TS women solely. If it's about drag queens and CDs count me out.
Thanks, though ! ![]()

sounds like you won't need the full 3 months to make an excuse.

Queen is a generic term for transgender entertainers. Girls in the pageant may be anywhere on the gender spectrum. But your attitude is off and offensive. All transgender girls deserve to be treated with respect. everyone counts.
claws in
Felicia
1) I am not making any excuse whatsoever, so you are way off to pressume that I won't be attending. How many memorable events have you attended that fell on a Sunday ? I just find it odd that it is on a Sunday.
2) You're totally misrepresenting what I posted and meant. I was not knocking CDs, TVs, or drag queens, but they are a totally different animal when compared to a genuine TS woman. A man in make-up wearing a dress just isn't my thing, and more power to those who are into that, but to say that the former is in the same cohort as say a Sapphire, Barbie, Madison, Ruby, or Vanity is mixing apples with oranges. The aforementioned are women with penises, who I would love to see on a stage. A man with make-up and a dress just isn't my thing, and I won't attend an event where CDs, TVs, and cross dressers dominate. It's deceptive packaging in my view, and simply something I'm not into or looking for.
I do agree with you that EVERYONE, be they CDs or drag queens, should be treated with respect, or as they would like to be treated.
Grrrrrrrrr!
