My Latina SB was here on Tuesday.   She wanted to stream something on my living room set up (65" HDTV, RSL sound system, black out curtains, ultra-comfy reclining chairs... you get the idea).  I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax, Disney+, Apple TV, YouTube Premium, and all the Spectrum paid movie channels. I run down the choices for her, and she says: "Hmm... you don't have Hulu?"

 
It's a good thing she knows how to "vibe" like a bunny on crack. :p

It's time to retire that term.  

I know, I know... it was an integral part of the universally accepted "Netflix and chill."  But now, based on the latest profile texts I see, it's cliche.  

 
So what's the new term?  

 
Vibing.  

 
POT SB's no longer want to chill (aka fuck). Now they want to vibe (aka, well I'm not really sure what it means ...).

I work in music where people come to us for music.  Nothing I hate more than when someone describes the music they are looking for as "vibey".  What in the actual fuck?   I understand indie vibe, romantic vibe, chill vibe, etc. but vibey?  Apparently, it's slang for "pleasant and lively" and I'm not entirely sure that's really what time of music they are looking for from us.   It just came up earlier this week so it's fresh on my mind.  I'm sure whoever has been asking for "vibey" music, here and there, over the last few or more years is younger than I am.    

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program.

I'm pretty sure "vibey" music is post-modern-pre-renaissance funk in a Mixolydian mode with a 5/8 back beat played on a cow-bell with Zildjian  overtones.   But in a hip way and with 5 sharps.  

 

So... yeah, Babe. Let's vibe. :p

Some of my chicks ask for music while fucking. I find that distracting and annoying. I almost always find a way to feign ignorance/inability or just ignore it.
