Divorce laws vary by state.  I was referring to my case here in Minnesota where we have "no fault" divorce.  You just need one side to decide to divorce and then it is granted.  Property is divided up.  If both parties are working and earn decent incomes, one side is not going to get stuck paying the other side alimony.

However if one side has spent several years being supported by the other side, that will generally continue to be compelled after the divorce.

In other states fault can play a roll in alimony, etc.  But I am not familiar with the laws in those states.

There are OTHER ALTERNATIVES guys!!!  I'm talking about ethical non-monogamy and polyamory.  Open, honest relationships where everyone agrees and is happy about each person getting their needs met.  Talk to your wife honestly about what you want, don't cheat!  Find local resources!  Find a local chapter of Loving More, the national polyamory education and advocacy group.  Get copies of "The Ethical Slut" and read and discuss the ideas together.  Find a couples counselor who is sex positive and poly positive to talk to you both.  fuck, I'm wasting my breath here, I know.

I am in a similar situation, except I'm a little older than you and my wife doesn't work.  Realization struck early in our marriage that having sex with only her was not an option.    Chronologically, I hooked up with a couple of ex-girlfriends, then a ton of escorts, a few FWB's and now predominantly SB's (and one married FWB).  All of these ladies served a purpose wonderfully and never once did I consider leaving my wife for any of them.

Sweetman,  I wish my wife allowed me to play.  My marriage is stable, but I go through great lengths to fly under the radar.  

It's an interesting question and one perhaps worthy of a new thread.  I'll start by saying that you are mis-characterizing these women if you think they have no skills and no ability to make a living in the real world. OK sure, some are just like that, and would probably be a poor choice for marriage material.  But most of the escorts and SBs I've met have been very smart, motivated women with serious career goals, education goals, and a plan for reaching those goals that just happens to include enjoying their sexuality to help defray expenses.  As for those who have retired, I know of several who have quit the trade and married, evidently happily.  I certainly like to think that their activities as escorts or SBs are just stepping stones on their way to meaningful success in life, and that the $$ I give them is helping them succeed.
