And not necessarily so evolutionary either or DNA-oriented per se. Thrusting is what gives you the friction, which provides the GOOOOOD feeling, in preparation for orgasm.

Positions are like people - varied and somewhat unique. A leg lift here, an arm there, and voilá, something nice and new that can make all the difference. Or not.

When Kinsey did his monumental research, he found that there were a couple of positions that were the most popular, with missionary among them. It is the position which is most frequently used in the United States, Japan and some South American countries. So going by this, you are merely fulfilling your cultural imperative - if such an imperative exists, LOL.

For me I think the missionary position allows me to express more of my 'creativity' of movement. In-out, side-to-side, circular hip motions. And the lady's legs are freed to move about as well, spread apart, brought in tight, stretched out on either side of the man's head, etc.

And if one has a good mix of love music playing, where the beat is complementary to the dancing going on, all the better. I highly recommend some of the instrumental movie soundtracks.

And for the original poster, I agree about the pleasure of thrusting in missionary. It is not too intense as a doggystyle thrust can be in stimulating the underside of the penis.

I think that I've managed to have one or maybe two orgasms in the missionary position in my whole life. Maybe because it's too distracting to have to look at a woman's face during sex or maybe I can't get enough friction?

Humans were not designed to have sex in the missionary position, thus the very low rate of female orgasms in that position relative to for example doggy style or woman on her stomach (with her ass up slightly)

The missionary position is a very recent invention in the 3 to 5 million evolutionary phase of mankind, and probably only became somewhat common way after pair bonding became more common.

If doggy doesn't work, and you want the woman to have a real (instead of likely fake) orgasm - the women prone with her ass up - is probably the best option, where the thrusting action is still very controllable

Perhaps it is the feeling of another body on you or the sounds, the passion of it all that makes you excited
