If ive seen or chatted with a lady enough I will save her name in my contacts.
Ive had several send me messages who have not reached that point with me yet I get a message not identifying th emselves and I have no idea who they are. But they know me. How do you get them to say who they are?
As soon as I exchange phone numbers I add them to my contacts, sometime I identify them by their SA screen name if that's all I know, sometimes their real name followed by their SA name since I often can't remember who's who. But when I get a text, at least I know right away who it's from. And trying to get them to sign their text with a name is a pointless exercise in frustration. They won't do it. So just add them to your contacts. I mean, why not?
If you get a phone number, google it. Then search it on your social media outlets. FB, instagram, Snapchat, etc. you may get lucky and find their real name.
I never move the conversation to text until we've already established a really good rapport on the SA message board. I hate typing on the tiny phone touch screen anyway. I like to keep all my conversations with a SB in one place, so moving to text is not something I like to do. Maybe that's why I already know I want them in my contacts list. If I'm texting them, they've already passed some major screening.
You're less likely to get to that point with your current strategy. Even if they are using a fake name, they aren't going to be happy about you forgetting that fake name. Add them to your contacts right away, or continue suffering.
I must have hundreds of "contacts" with the notation "SA" under their name.
If I don't have a name I simply use their "handle" until they give me a name, and then of course my phone keeps the chain of conversation going so I can look back on our past conversations to refresh my memory before responding. On the rare occasions that I get a text from an unknown party, I simply respond that I lost my old phone and that is why I don't know who this is. Ironically i did just get a new phone not too long ago, but I keep my old phone handy "just in case" I need to go back and view an old text message exchange. Even more ironically this came in very handy just a few days ago when I got a text from someone simply listed as "Amand SA" in my contacts wanting to see me and for the life of me I couldn't remember her. I grabbed my old phone, looked up Amanda in my contacts, hit "send message" and it brought up the entire chain of conversation we had had a few months back. It saved me the embarrassment of asking "who the fuck are you?" lol
I loaded up the app SMS Backup+ to transfer my text messages to my new phone. Of course, you have to backup when the old phone is still operational. Handy app.
