Hi All, So I was doing my normal browsing on SA today and as I often do I decided to limit my search results to Show Members Seeking "Friends with benefits."  To my dismay, that search parameter is gone!  WTF!!!  It's about the only way to get an indication in advance that a SB is dtf.  I've found it especially useful in narrowing my search before heading out to a distant city in search of a SB who would agree to BCD on the first meetup. Without the FWB search parameter I think our lives as SDs just got a whole lot harder.

No strings attached, which seems similar and maybe even looser to me (someone tried to explain the difference once but I forget).
The thing is this change was applied retroactively so anyone who clicked on fwb would have that changed. It maybe cosmetic.

My understanding has always been that FWB and NSA are complementary but very different.  FWB implies a sexual connection between 2 friends.  NSA does not.  But, what do you mean by applied retroactively? I see the SBs in my personal favorites list still show the FWB tag if they clicked it when they created their profile.  But no new searches for FWB, via the list of suggested searches, are allowed.  It sure seems like a substantive change, not merely cosmetic.

Scrutiny by media and presumably LE continues to pressure SA to forcefully separate itself away from hooker services and towards a dating service.  So every word on the site must pass the trial by fire.

The concept of a benefit is literally the same as the concept of remuneration, payment, enrichment, etc. And FWB can be easily explained as "you do this for me, and I'll do that for you,"  the core legal concept behind most prostitution laws.

I'm surprised it took SA this long to remove it.

Question for Papa Sweet:  Have you also see the FWB term disappear from POT SB profile text?

I just noticed it too.  Friends with Benefits was my best filter tool.  I’m betting SA will go away almost like Backpage did.  It’s getting harder for us mongers.

I asked myself the same question. So, to get an answer I did a new search, casting the widest net: my location plus 1000 miles, no other filters whatsoever. The results numbered 10K+, as expected.  Then I added FWB to the Profile text box and the number of hits was 2118.  I also tried typing in "friends with benefits" and this time my results were 1325.  So it seems that for now SA is still allowing those terms to appear in established profiles, although I don't know if they'd edit them out in a new profile or not. And they are still searchable.  However, many, (perhaps as many as half?) were negative. As in "absolutely no FWB".  So it will take a lot more work to find those who have a sex positive attitude and express it using the FWB terms.

When I look at my own profile, the box I clicked on just says "friends" so it was changed.
But when I scroll over with the mouse, it says I'm looking for "friends with benefits."
I wouldn't go nuclear over this. I had used those filters as well but found a lot of girls ignore or misuse them, and just say 'fine dining" or the like. I think there are other clues (looking for fun)  but you may have to read between the lines.

Now the “friends” filter when hovered over says “ I’m looking for a friend”.  ‘ With benefits’,  has gone the way of the cassette tapes.

I just did a search for SBs in a nearby city and then typed FWB in the Profile Text box.  The results were interesting, and depressing.  I read through the first page of search results, 25 profiles.  Only 8 of them said they wanted a FWB type of arrangement.  The other 17 said they def did NOT want a FWB arrangement.  So using FWB as a search criteria will get you many more negative results than positive.  I realize 25 profiles is small sample, but I think it's indicative. Of the SBs who use the term FWB in their profiles,  32% are pro FWB, 68% are negative. How does that match with your search results?

Could just be my area, but for the past several days or so there seems to be a huge up-swelling in the number of girls (typically 18-21 and university types) specifying Platonic or 'no sex' or the like.  I noticed the FWB tag was gone, but it just seems a strange coincidence that up to half my searches are now definitely NOT DTF..
