prescription for older men with benign enlarged prostate, to ease urine flow.

A side effect, clearly stated in
its package insert, is difficulty ejaculating!

Taking longer to pee and  getting up more often at night are small prices to pay, in my opinion, to avoid that fate.

Many older men don't mind the side effect. But I suspect there are few of them here.

Thank God for this Board.

LG,
I've sufferd from ED for a few years now and having been taking Viagra only when I needed it. But the last 18 months have been horrible, I'm on an everyday viagra treatment 1/4 pill a day but I'm only producing soft erections and haven't been able to have intercourse because if I put a condom on I lose my erection. My eurologist says give it time but how much time do I need?
I don't suffer from any kind or stress - other then the day to day things in life, I don't have diabetes, high blood pressure or anything that would cause such a dilema! I'm at wits end and don't know what to do. I'm a perfectly healthy male, exercise, eat right and I have a high libido! LG do you have any advice to offer me!

Yes, my dear Wilteddaisy,

I do have some advice for you. Plain and simple: please stop focusing on this issue, because the mental stress and pressure you are putting on yourself is not helping matters.

Another thing: is Viagra the only ED med your urologist suggests for you? What about Levitra or Cialis? One size doesn't fit all, we've clearly seen that on our wonderful board.

Also, how about manual or BBBJs from a provider? Does the same thing happen there? Or what about you and your Rosy Palm? Do things never bloom in that garden either?

In any case, I'd go back to the urologist and get very vociferous. A new prescription might be what the doctor should order!

I agree with all LG writes.

In addition, what would happen if you stopped taking 1/4 dose of ED medicine every day, and saved that just for less frequent special occasions?

You might find that a regular maximum dose (for Viagra, that's 100 mg) then works wonders for you.

Discuss it with your doctor?  Worth a try?

I'm not sure what you're doing ... 1/4 of a 50mg tablet is nothing and wll not have any clinical affect and I doubt a DR would Rx such a dose for ED, High blood pressure maybe, but at that level it will not have any meaningful effect.  Take 50 MG tab 1 hour before you expect o engage in sex if 50 don't work go to a 100MG or 2 50's. 100MG will get wood and that is the highest clinical dose.  Trouble with Viagra is it takes at least an hour for it to kick in and it only lasts 2-3 hours .. so timing is a major issue.  Taking a 1/4 tab of either strength in the morning will not be around that evening.

I had good results for Viagra 100's for a while then results faded (pun) and I switched to Cialis and that stuff is the bomb for me! One tab at 6 pm is still rocking at 6 the next night ... and it really pumps things up.  Take one daily for a hot week end and a hot chica will change your name to Studly!

I don't know if you are but if so don't buy your drugs from jack leg sellers on the net, most of what they sell is counterfeit placebo.

The bitch about these drugs is that they have run their prices up over the past two years from about $3.00 when Viagra first came out to now over 10 bucks a bang.  You'd think competition would drive prices down but nope, it tripled them.

Go figure

I am no doctor, but I do take Viagra.   I can't imagine why you are taking a quarter dose every day.   First, of all, you don't need it unless you are going to use it.   Second, a quarter dose seems much too small.   With your doctor's permission, change to taking it one hour before sex, and a full dose of 100 mg.

You might also try one of the other ED drugs.   I suspect, however, that your problem is psychological, and that is why your doctor is recommending such a small dose.

Finally, I have one last thinking out of the box suggestion, again to be discussed with your urologist.   Try the shots.  I have tried them and found them unpleasant, but if properly done they work.   If you succeed a couple of times with the shots (and if done right you have to succeed) maybe you will feel well enough about yourself to move to Viagra, and then nothing.

. . . Viagra should not be taken unless it is needed, a full dose is usually too much. A full dose is meant for a 250-lb man with diabetes; he may well need a full dose but one should first experiment to find the correct dosage. I take about a sixth of a dose and it is effective, but then, I'm a recreational user. BTW, I switched to Levitra; the side effect is less pronounced.

One question I have is how old are you? I agree that you should not be taking daily doses of Viagra. I can identify with the condom thing, because putting one on requires that you not focus on the mechanical aspects of its placement.

I find that if I eat protein with every meal it helps alot, that includes breakfast. Before I have an appointment with a provider or an intense session at home I will get a ribeye steak dinner with veggies, salid and lots of water. I also do weight lifting 3-4 times a week. Exercise in of the legs is very important. Some exercises such as squats help your body produce natural male hormones.

I was surgically messed up in 2000. My TURP was successful but 6 weeks later when the scabs schluff off, one didn't. Unfortunatly it was JULY when the freshly graduated doctors show up in the hospitals. I came in complaining that I was clogged up with blood as a result of the TURP. The new-bee docs took over and changed catheters 9 times in 11 hours. I was in a fog from the discomfort of being unable to relieve myself. When they SHOVED the last one in without the lub, my mind became very clear because of the pain. I threw them out of my room with instructions to not return under pain of death AND that I wanted to see an attending MD *N*O*W* which I did. He took me to the OR for 6 hours cleaning up the mess and finally got down to the bleeder, which he took care of. He said they should have gotten him after their first attempt and that the resulting injury is an unknown.
The long and short of it is that none of the oral or injectable drugs work for me and the pump has no effect. I am looking at getting a prosthesis.
There are 3 basic models. 1) Semi rigid all the time. 2) Pump from a resivor with the bulb in the scrotum. and 3) Like 2 but the pump is in the head of the penis.
I am leaning toward #1 because there are fewer parts break or require service.
Does anyone have any experience in this area and which choice did you make and why?

I agree about trying to include protein with each meal.

And trying hard to *walk* more is vital.

That's what our bodies were designed to do [not eat white bread and drive].
