Asynchronous messaging - drives me nuts

I get it.  It's normal with Gen Z (born after 2000) to send a text and then wait... and wait... and wait for a reply.

It's just the norm. Texts can be looked at and ignored for hours (days?) and then answered as though it was immediate.

But for fuck's sake! It's frustrating when you connect with a 24-year-old super cute, demure, and interesting POT and you are trying to arrange a M&G.  On Thursday, I suggested we meet on Sunday. She asks what time and I reply. Then..... nothing.

Until Friday when - nothing.  Ok so Saturday and - nothing. I send a follow up asking if the time suggested is good. Nothing.

My Spidey Senses tell me she's not bailing. It's just how Gen Z communicates.  So I'll keep the time slot (and prep time) open for now and will line up 2 backups at the same because I plan on going BCD tomorrow with her or someone else.

I don't know if it's a Gen Z thing or just how some individuals operate.  I've definitely encountered the same type of frustrating behavior, but also encountered some who were excellent and responsive communicators.  The most frustrating part of course is the opportunity cost. If I commit to meeting someone on a certain day, and they don't reply to confirm, I might wind up wasting the day. I don't use backups or double and triple book.  If you are waiting for #1 to reply and confirm, how do you handle the 2 backups?  One way or another you're going to have to back out and disappoint someone, right?
