Zelle and Cash App

I contacted an agency that told me new clients are required to make a deposit via Cash App or Zelle. I haven’t used either, but I assume the transaction can be traced back to me. Perhaps this is common, but I don’t feel comfortable with it. Thoughts and advice?

I've used both - Zelle can be tied by the recipient directly to the real-work bank account.  If you use your personal checking account, for instance,  your name will be there on the transfer message.  There may be a way to avoid that by using business accounts, but I haven't tried that.  CashApp acts as a cut-out between the bank information and the recipient (i.e., you will both see each other's selected aliases only). So CashApp is more secure from your perspective - but the transaction would likely not survive a warrant if LEO gets involved.  I've successfully made deposits with CashApp - with providers I'm seeing for the first time, and for long-time "friends" I have used Zelle, but very selectively.

That's your cue to move on to the next one. Deposits are a bad idea to start with. Deposits followed by the words Cash app are a worse idea!!

Puuuuuulenty of gals and agencies do not require a deposit. Go see them.

Most people, these days, don't write each other checks. They pay thru Zelle, Venmo, or Cash App.

Yes, the info can be tracked back to you.. Think Matt Gaetz and Joel Greenburg.  If you wanted anonymity I would not use it.. Stick to cash.

Ignore the tin foil hats in the thread, they are also likely anti deposit.

Zelle will show your real name in the transfer so I would avoid using that. Cash app visible name can be changed so that the receiver will never know your real name. After a certain number of transactions, cash app will ask for your real name to tie back to the debit card / bank account, but this is only visible to you and whatever verification systems they use.

Now, if you were ever to be subpoenaed or criminally investigated, sure they can look up cash app transactions. But what is the likelihood of this happening to you? Gaetz used Venmo and only when he was being vetted for Attorney General did someone ask about the girls he was meeting. They weren't even trying to see if he was hiring escorts, the concern was that they were underage. And only after they talked with the girls, did they find out that Gaetz used Venmo. So think about that, he has been in Congress for years, gone through ethics investigations, and only when nominated for one of the most powerful appointed positions in the country did his use of an electronic payment method come to light.

Sure there's a risk. But what is the likelihood?

If you really want to be safe you could offer a gift card instead, pay for it by cash at a convenience store and then send the images to the provider. Providers might not accept because it's not the same as cash.

“One gets a cross for his crime, the other a crown.” The wealthy and powerful are held to different standards than the average dude. I get what you're saying, but I don’t think I have adequate knowledge of how the tech works and the laws to feel confident going through with this.

I haven’t parcipitated in many years. Once an agency I used to use dissappeared. No one knew what happened. Very possible they just closed up shop, or they got in trouble. I was nervous about that for a while, but nothing came of it. So now I’m extra cautious. *adjusts tin foil hat*

This is an agentcy I contacted, not an independant. I don’t think they’ll take a gift card as they said the deposit was part of the verification. (I don’t have an issue with a one time deposit, it’s leaving a digital trail that concerns me.) This appears to be the only reputable agency in my area. If this is what they require, there must be plenty of people doing it. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t had luck finding anyone. My balls are deep ocean blue.

Seems like that might depend on the bank you have Zelle connected with.

It seems your name will be shared and, at least for US Bank, thought I'm not sure when that information was posted or if it's been updated by the bank. Might think they would update their FAQ if that has changed thought. It seems Wells Fargo might also share some information. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI8kNZdcgGE -- never got the video to play but the second comment from 6 months ago speaks to this.)

Does that mean they are exposing serious information? Depend, what email did you provide, or what mobile number?

For Zelle, not sure about some of the others as I don't use them, seems that it is very much like cash in that once you pay Zelle and your bank are not going to be able to do much about getting the money back if someone was scamming you.

So I would say before anyone used one of these payment options they should check with what is disclosed and think about how they want to setup the account (I would stay away from a business account as that might cause you serious headaches down the road) regarding names (or perhaps display names, email address or phone numbers associated with the account).

Cashapp allows you to pay in cash as an option as well. All you have to do is visit an in store location that accepts cash. 💰

Depositing Cash into Cash App:
Retail Partners:
You can deposit cash by visiting retailers like 7 Eleven, Baker's, Bashas', City Market, Circle K, Cox Foodarama, CVS Pharmacy, Delek, and Dollar General.
How to Deposit:
Let the cashier know you want to add money to your Cash App.
Show them the barcode from your app, which they will scan.
Maximum deposit is $500 per transaction.
You can deposit up to $1,000 every 7 days and up to $4,000 every 30 days.

* Not all providers are created equally. I do what makes you feel comfortable. I just had a photoshoot in LV and I had to supply a deposit for my photographer, hair & makeup artist too. As a professional escort I have required a deposit to book, since 2010. I have never had any issues personally. I have even had people send me $1k via snail mail. We are all so very different, so find the provider that fits your needs.

IIRC, you can generate a barcode to give someone else and then they use that to make a cash payment to the account that generated the code. You take it to some participating location (like Western Union terminals at stores) and pay the cash there.

Of course for those generating the code it's not that hard to find a code reader so that information is not really protected from someone that is interested in seeing it -- but I also suspect it doesn't have anything but some routing information within the CashApp processing systems and not the associated bank account.

I ask Google everything.  When I click on my cashapp I can see my scan code. I have a link 🔗 on my website that leads directly to my cashapp because I love to kiss 💋 keep it super simple.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Open Cash App and go to Activity: Open the Cash App on your device and navigate to the "Activity" tab.
Tap "Invite Friends": Tap on the "Invite Friends" option within the Activity tab.
Share your referral code:
Tap the share icon: Tap on the share icon (usually located in the top right corner of the screen).
Copy your link: You'll find your referral code and invite link here, and you can copy it directly from the app or select to share.
Share the link: You can share the link through various methods like messaging apps, email, or social media platforms, according to Cash App support

I haven't had a provider turn me down when I ask if I can send it using an Amazon or Uber GC. I pay for it in cash, take a picture of it and send it by email. Non traceable, as best you can do.
.
In your case, it sounds like you just need a deposit for the first date with that agency? If they turn you down with my option, ask if they will accept my method but send a larger amount and not have that amount go against the balance.
.
Normally I would never do that, but I don't know your options where you live so if this is a great agency it may be worth it.
.
Lastly, j86568 is correct. Just ignore the "never send a deposit" crowd. They are only doing that for their own best interests and they try to use scare tactics to get you to not do it. I have been doing it for 5-6 years and never been burned.

Roberts is far from a sucker and most definitely not desperate. If you have nothing to add to the OP then move along.

You see, Robert likes to make points opposite of mine whenever the opportunity arises just fyi. And btw, There are hundreds of "I got taken" posts and reviews of another person who "thought" they did their due diligence, paid a deposit and lost it. Those stories and reviews are all over this site.
So yes ma'am, the statement "I leave the deposits to the suckers and the desperate ones" is absolutely true. Robert pays deposits because he has to. I don't.

I've paid a few in my day. I judge each provider on her own merits. The best example I have is our own Queen Bia. Not only did I pay her a deposit, I paid her in full before meeting her. My choice. She's an example of a lady who has an outstanding reputation and I never hesitated to follow her deposit rules.

Yes, Zelle warns you that payments are final.

The name issue with Zelle may be bank dependent but unless you've used it before you may not know. I went to see a provider once and I texted her that I arrived at the hotel. I then realized I forgot the envelope at home. I told her I'd be delayed and told her what happened. She asked me if I had Zelle and I said yes. She said I could pay her that way.

The next month I looked at my bank statement and saw the transfer to her with what was apparently her real name. I assumed she had my name too at that point but what was done was done. I'm not sure how some women use Zelle without revealing their real names unless they use a friend's bank account to accept payments.

Or maybe we could focus on how to make this board informative like it is supposed to be? It is quite obvious you are still salty about being scammed out of a deposit (s) but many others here clearly have not. If you do not feel comfortable sending a deposit that is your choice, just like it is any client's choice to send one. If you would like to share what app you used or what transpired for the transaction for you to get scammed that would be helpful to the OP, but calling other clients "desperate" for successfully booking providers for years utilizing deposits while you were the one that got scammed is projection 101. Just stick to the facts. We are all adults here.

What self interests would those be? Are they competitors with cash app or zelle?

Are they providers who don't do deposits?

Warning others to not do deposits is exactly the same what you're doing, except on an opposing side.

Saying don't do deposits isn't "scare tactics" or bullshit self-interest.

It's giving advice based on experience and understandong the amount of scams circulating in this biz.

It's the exact same as me giving advice to someone who wants to invest in crypto "projects" - don't.  What is my self interest there?

I guess not wanting to get people scammed is self interest now. Funny how much mental gymnastics is done here.

And all for what? To get providers who do ask for deposits some extra money? But you're not doing that in self interest huh Robert.

I get it, different standards for buyers and sellers, par for the course for you.

I was wondering the same thing. How on earth could giving someone on this board advice that they asked for (this is not unsolicited advice here..)  be in my best interest. What could one possibly gain from that.
Zero.... that's what.
The fact is, deposits ARE a bad idea and deposit scams are getting more and more popular by the day. I just noticed ANOTHER example just a couple days ago of a provider with 3 pages of good reviews,  take someone on their deposit. Possibly another "robert" saying, oh its fiiiiiiine........Until it wasn't.

Robert advocates so much that deposits are fine its gotten to the point where I'm not sure if he's respectful robert or respectful Rhonda.

Ignore the tin foil hats?? What?? Another example of the dying trait of common sense.

We can say that about pretty much anything here, can't we. Just because you've not been robbed it's all good. Just because you've not been arrested it's all good. Just because you've not been bait-n-switched it all good. Just because you've not caught an infection it's all good. Just because your wife has not caught you it's all good.

What people do here come with risks. The risks differ for different people so all these claims (from whatever side you want to look) often boil down to one size fits all or you're stupid and I'm smart type claims. Seems to me that most want to give the hungry guy a fish rather than make an effort to teach the guy to fish. Is that all from self-interest? Maybe. But who cares really? I look at it from a "what does this help me do" perspective and living according to someone else's life and conditions never really made sense to me.

First, good to see that you're trying to think things through with the big head. Blue ball decisions, like most emergency actions tend to be sketchy.

If it's a well established agency I assume there are reviews up for providers that were at the agency. I would contact some of the reviewers who saws girls at the agency as ask them what their experience has been. You can also just ask if any alternative verification methods will work and then perhaps choose the one that seem to be the safest  for you.

In his reply he says "He (me) gets on every thread that mentions deposits"
Every thread? Damn! Every one huh. Good lord I'd be here my whole life if I did that.

For the guys who inquire about deposits, they are doing so because they aren't sure if they shouldor not. The absolute fact is, it's a bad idea. Period.
So if they decide not to go forward with a deposit because someone here mentioned not to do it, the value is whatever they didn't lose. Thank me later.  So yep, if I happen to see someone ask (not EVERY THREAD), then I'll say....bad idea. I've never been burned on a deposit either and I'm 100% guaranteed not to be. What rubbed this guy the wrong way was I said, we leave the deposits to the suckers and desperate ones. Well.........sorry. I guess QB got her feelings hurt and childishly blocked me. I remember earlier QB says she don't leave the "Casa" without a deposit. Well that makes 2 of us honey because I don't leave if one is required. And I can assure you there are plenty of wonderful ladies that have no problem with that.

Some guys like to see themselves as "one of the good clients." I think every client should be considerate and respectful of a provider and their rules/boundaries. There are benefits, since the provider is going to be more relaxed if she feels safe and comfortable. However, some guys let it go to their head and it leads them to be a bit pollyannish  and naive (if not downright delusional). Risk can only be mitigated, never eliminated. What we are doing carries risks. You can do all the research in the world but all it takes is for one provider to change all that. If you play with fire you will get burned. If you pay deposits, prepare to get ripped off one day. It just is what it is, understand the risks of the game.
.
The issue with a blanket "no deposits" is that it is very hard to find high-end independent providers that don't require PI or deposits. If you want to play in that market your options are limited. The other issue is that more and more women have no reviews or a no review policy yet require deposits and/or PI. Paying deposits in this circumstance is insane, IMHO. The client has literally no recourse if you get ripped off. Can you post a ripoff report of a delisted provider? Are you going to raise a ruckus if a girl has your employment and personal information? Probably not. While I can't make a blanked "no deposits" statement, I can say that most providers do not meet my criteria for deposits. For me, deposits are reserved for well reviewed, higher end companions. Also, I think for many guys, a blanked "no deposit" policy probably makes sense.

And guys - pre-load those Cash App and Zelle and pay with those funds -- the purchases will still appear in the app history, but better than appearing in your bank account (it will just show simply as Cash App or Zelle transfer/pre-load).

I’ve had both Cashapp and Zelle accounts shuttered.

One, from a client who got the banking cooties from sending large sums in BTC to another provider who was also deported, then banned from reentering the United States.

Second, having had people put silly messages in the subject line that prompted a review and closure of my account.

Both were convenient to use with clients that I could trust to not make banking compliance mistakes. Personally gift cards have had their run on maintaining anonymity. Not the case now with Delta gift cards in cash…

Venmo hasn’t given me any issues.
PayPal only with trusted clients.
BTC only if you know other people you’ve sent/received from hasn’t gotten any unwanted attention.
Fedex has been my favorite.
