I don't think tips or gifts are needed.  As has often been said, your return business is what most girls prefer.  That said, I don't take advantage of discounts or grandfathering.  Instead of taking a $25 or $50 P411 discount I just pay the full rate.  Saving $25 just feels cheesy to me.  If that's a tip, so be it

Most frequently a jar candle...  I've given nice candies (sugar free, gal was diabetic).  Something needed for her home.  For longer visits, I've brought lunch or fixings.  A toy for her doggie so he wouldn't eat me.

Guys who buy things like wine, perfume, and lingerie are really in for a shock. Those are very personal things that you really need a detailed description of, to get something she actually likes. If she reads and you know the authors she likes (and the books she does not already have), I think that's a nice gift. You can't go wrong with candles and bath stuff either, but not every woman likes the same scents. Vanilla drives me nuts, and should only be used to rid the house of cat urine odor IMO.
