Picking up on definitive denouement's perceptive entry, found in the thread originated by giorgio2
found below, has led me to believe that there are 3 classifications of hobbyists :

1. Married men who can't get laid.

2. Single men who can't get laid .

3. Choosy single men who can't get laid.

Thoughts on this ? Additional classifications ?

I'm not sure what thread you are talking about, but here are my own observations:

1. Married men that don't get enough sex (or diverse enough sex) at home

2. Married men that get NO sex

3. Single men that work too much to date conventionally, or sometimes to even have much of a social life

4. Single men that are awkward at dating

5. Single men that date conventionally, but don't get enough sex (or diverse enough sex) in those relationships

6. Single men that are between dating relationships but still need a physical outlet

The number of men that I see that "can't" get laid is pretty low.  Most of them *can*, but sometimes choose professionals for the simplicity of the relationship.

Some men do not or can't have a relationship for personal reasons. I'm sure some married men do not want to have an affair. Your list is silly.

reasons or classifications of hobbyists as there are hobbyists.  Although some may have similar reasons, I think each individual has his own unique situation.

I for one, am married, gets decent sex but need diversity, like some things that my wife won't do, such as CIM or facial, and I don't want to have an affair.

I am sure there can be an exhaustive list, but in reality, who cares, unless someone is a complusive hobbyist who has crossed the line and now is classified as an addict.

It is not all a matter of not being able to have a ralationship.

Relationships are hard work.  Not everyone wants that type of responsibility.

Well, I agree with some of all that has been said above.
When I was married I did think that seeing a provider was someow different from having an affair.

Relationships are hard work but thee are women out there who want sex with no strings attached.  It takes work to find them.   Some men simply don't have the time or energy to date and I, for one, am extremely picky about who I will go to bed with.  I don't work in an environment where it is ok to date the people I meet, can be socially difficult to date the people around me, and really don't have the time or inclination to go chase women into the wee hours of the am.  Oh, and I don't drink so I don't go to bars, have wine with dinner or those other things can make it a little easier to get a civilian in bed with you.
Finally why should I screw a 44 year old worn out divorced mother of three when I can make love with a 24 yo pornstar who will fly to me when I want her to for about $200/hr???

My first question is why is this even important?  Is it some sort of need to fit into a category for validation? Is it supposed to help relieve guilt?

How about guys who have sex with their wives all the time but like some strange pussy once in a while?

How about guys who can't get a decent BBBJ at home and go "outside" for that?

How about guys who can't stand their wives and reject their advances only to pay for sex from an escort?

How about guys who bring their wives for a threesome.

How about widowers?

I'm sure there are many more beyond the several I naked and the three that we started with. Again I ask the question; Why is this even important?

61, have no desire to get married again, but want to have sex with lovely ladies.  In the hobby, I can do that.  I  have met some wonderful ladies that I have become friends with, yes, I still see them as a provider, but we talk outside the hobby.

I suppose I could get laid with a civie, but I have no desire put up with the civie dating scene just to have sex.  It is much more expensive than an escort, and I can leave after it's over and not have to call her 20 minutes later to make sure she still wants to see me again.

Have 2 or 3 girlfriends and get laid a lot, but want the ease of seeing a lady who they are sure is going to be easy and fun and leave them alone after. Hell, I see a pro wrestler. He gets plenty of pussy, but he wants someone older and wiser he can just relax with, vent, get a good massage, good other stuff too and leave knowing that there is a safe, open door to return and in the meantime no hassles.

Yeah, the list is a tad limited.
