I like them fully waxed. Shaving leave stubble after a a bit that can uncomfortable as the hears will be tough. Waxing reduces the amount and makes the growth soft. I'll accept anything as pubic hair is not a criteria I use to determine whether I'll see a provider.  However, I personally prefer completely natural, with no shaving whatsoever.  Shaving is a cultural evolution... prior to the 1960's, almost no women shaved the world over.  I'm not even 40 years old yet, but we know the truth about shaving from history and magazines like Playboy.  I'm not sure why specifically I have the opinion of liking hair, but it's just the way I feel.  I guess shaved almost appears to be adding an "artificial" layer to me... similar to breast implants.

I have to echo what most men are saying here. Some well trimmed and groomed pubic hair mixed in with certain areas shaved is best. Totally bald looks a bit too prepubescent for my taste (pun intended) but absolutely no trimming can distract from the mission at hand (another pun intended I suppose!)
