People act very surprised that LE is still crackdown after the election. The truth is that many police departments budgets are being cut. They are running stings to justify there vice cop operations and convince department heads that they don't need cut back there existing budgets.

Also with each case if one is guilty the state/local jurisdictions make money for fees and guilty fees.

The stats drive the budgets. If crime decreases a lot then cops get laid off. That is why see so many operations during the year. Same on the civil side with speeding tickets/etc.

When they have a good year promotions happen, especially in Vice operations. Vice covers drugs, gambling, and prostitution. If drugs and gambling arrests are way down they switch to prostitution.
