Just wondered. I had asked a well known provider if she could verify me through an agency that I have been using. She said that would be fine and to let them know that she would be contacting them about me.

I did and the agency said they did not know me.?.?.?

Confused I looked at my account manager info for TER and I did not use my real name when I joined back in '05. Wanted to stay as anonymous  as possible I guess, so I just made up a name figuring nobody really needs to know my first and last name.

Could this provider have seen this "made up" name in my account info?

thanks

So it appears that the lady who told this to you lied. A provider lying, isn't that a shocker? lol

They can also post reviews under alias thereby hiding reviews from prying providers.  Guys can go virtually stealth on TER these days & it's a welcome change !

a provider told me last week she verified me by my account information in ter.   she said she could look me up by my email address.   Is that possible?    I would like to hear from a moderator.

i tried it and i could not search by my email address but maybe providers have options that we don't    Still waiting on a moderator for clarification.

No one  (providers or guys) can see  TER account Info or email addresses on account pages.

The ONLY way that could happen is you were HACKED or someone figured out your password & knew your username. (Highly Unlikely)

Even if we opted out of whitelist and want to stay private. Basically, if a provider has our email address that we use on TER she can found out what our TER handle is no matter which setting we set it to.

I think it's a bug in TER and a potential privacy leak. They might have fixed it since the time I found out about it but I haven't checked it lately.

I posted about this a long while ago, but one of mods redirected it to newbie board thinking it was a newb question. LOL

by searching for your email address.
I don't know if TER fixed this bug yet but if it hasn't been fixed, lets start calling the bug a 'feature for providers'.

Ahem, Like mr.fisher.... I'm rarely wrong, until I'm too drunk to think straight. :)

Hmm, the Blue Label isn't helping, btw.
