I have two residences, one in an UMC suburb of Las Vegas, the other near the beach in LA. Although I generally don't play very much in Vegas, part of the reason is that its very transient there, and you really can't trust everyone. With the vast majority of professional women who live there, there's usually a man behind them, and statistically more often than should be, the guy's a ex-con or one in training. I'd much rather meet them at a hotel, likely one with a reputation for tolerance of the ladies and with standards befitting my, umm, "investment". In short, Hard Rock or Palms, because it's the nicest a local can get for cheap or even free during the week on short notice. The girls seem to approve, too.
LA is a different culture. While I do very little outcall as well, there's virutally nothing of value there save for my PC, and it's in a fairly dense place. While the trust issues remain, it's just less likely someone is going to take a shot at me here than in Vegas. My LA apartment has a separate bathroom that only the ladies use, and for that reason, among others, works well for me. It's just that I'm not in LA much, and pretty much my regular outs these days are incall only.
This hobby is full of risks, but if I always prefer to meet a provider at my place rather than hers. For several reasons:
1. The cops can't setup a sting in your place. The chance that vice would setup a girl with a wire just to nab a john in his own home is very slim. But at hotels or brothels the vice folks can do about anything they want. Take it from someone who got burned in Houston one night way back in 1984. The vice guys took over a well known brothel, setup video cameras and arrested a bunch of us hobbyists just for asking a cop in a mini-skirt and high heels for a BJ. I applaud their efforts to waste tax dollars getting all of us dangerous criminals off the street...!
2. My home is my castle. I'm always more comfortable there than in some strange hotel or dark sleezy apartment.
3. Being a single man, I don't worry about things married guys would have to. A girl once tried to hustle me for money after our session by threatening to come by and visit when my wife was at home... I just laughed at her as she stormed out the door realizing she'd picked the wrong pidgeon.
4. While I always shower before a session, I don't worry about getting all dressed up at my residence. A comfortable pair of shorts and a baggy shirt are all you need. Remember, that's what you're after in the first place with a provider. A sure thing that doesn't require you to impress her with your good looks and refined tastes. Just a quick piece and then back to TV, pizza and suds.
regarding #3 in specific,
being a "singleton" i too less fear on-the-spot marital blackmail, but i do worry about all the other fuss/embarassment a tramp could make who threatens to make a scene at your neighborhood/building/etc
in situatinos like this (which thankfully have never arisen) i would simply threaten/imply that the physical harm i could do them (with relative impunity) for being a criminal trespasser in my "domain" is something they shouldn't lose sight of, and one their driver waiting around the corner couldn't immediately (or even ultimately) help them with... harsh? let's not forget, we're talking about despicable criminals here (providers who scam/threaten, i mean)
i don't think no universally iron-clad case can me made for either incall/outcall ... though it's fun debating the relative merits of each 
I've had probably had 15 or so girls come to my home for an outcall, several were repeats which I was very comfortable with. Only had a couple of bad experiences as one stole from me, and another who was really hot showed up with a friend who looked like she was strung out. The hot girl got pissed at me because I didn't wanna do a threesome with her and the druggie and just kind of layed there the whole time. Great boobs, but she was a real bitch...one of the few I've met in my 15 years of this "recreational activity."
In home outcall is very problematic for a number of reasons.
Missing things. If something vanishes, what are you going to do, call the cops? The girls know this and the ones who do this petty thievery balance their greed with a desire not to encounter the LE.
Medical problems. What happens if she shoots up in your bathroom and passes out or dies? This is very hard to explain away.
Significant Others. If the girl knows where you live & that you have a wife, she has leverage. Some girls will use it.
Unless you don't care about these problems, then just pay the $80 and rent a room. The other option is to in call. The number of guys who get busted at a LE incall these days has to be a number somewhere around zero.
I'm sure the neighborhood wives hate me because of the provocatively dressed, high heeled hotties that have sashayed up to my door. The thumbs up & winks of acknowledgment given me by the local husbands is a source of great pride. Even the local youths give me their particular brand of "Props" for my indiscriminate taste in houseguests. Hehehehe!
Needless to say I'm single.
On the down side of having "outcall" to my home it means that I have to clean & "police" the place before the ladies arrival. I do this both out of basic respect for my guest and to insure that nothing sensitive or valuable is left out and vulnerable.

I think you'd be crazy to bring ladies to your house. Ive only had one problem over the years where a girl who showed up was a good duece and a half in weight and not the hottie in the adverstisement. I sent her home, she threw a fit, knocked on my neighbors doors and told them they should know their neighbor is calling escorts, blah blah blah. I'm single so the damage was minimal. I took that one on the chin, but I've never had a problem besides that.
But it only takes one bad incident to wreck the life of a guy who's married/attached and/or has kids. I'd suggest you ask yourself...is what I have worth spending an extra $50 for a hotel room, im sure most possesions and families are worth that insurance investment.
There can be a couple of big problems with renting a room,
#1 most good hotels require a credit card to be swiped, and this can be serious even if a 0 charge appears on the bill.
#2 as has been mentioned on the borad before, remember the vedio pictures of Rick Chance and the girl being on TV in several different shots thoughout the hotel in Tempe. Who all see those security shots.
#3 who might you run into at a hotel, it can be hard to explain.
