Probably my worst single day of out-of-control behavior was when I got ripped-off THREE times in one day, before I got what I wanted on the fourth attempt.  The ridiculous thing was that two of the ROB's were from the same Orange County agency and must have just been laughing their asses off more than they usually do after they perform a successful "cash and dash" robbery.

I took about 9 months off from the "hobby" after that to reassess things.  I guess the very fact that I was able to take off that much time means I'm not really addicted, just favorably predisposed toward the ladies, though occasionally to my detriment.  But I think that just makes me male, not an addict.

Does that make providers "pushers" or "enablers". If I hear or read one more leftist, psycho-babble term regarding a politically incorrect activity, action or enjoyment giving toward the prognosis of ADDICTION I'm going to puke. I suppose since I like to eat on a daily basis I'm addicted to food. The symptoms of addiction are all there. I "hunger", my stomach growls, I get impatient, terse, angry and then I feel MUCH better after I feed. GEE!! maybe I'm in "denial" too.
 I think I'll buy my ATF a sexy nurse outfit and she can put me on a "12 step program" to cure me of this dreadfull "hobby" addiction.

But I did for a while. I'm disappointed at the dismissive replies that this thread has engendered -- "when the Tao is presented to him, the Fool will laugh" -- but that's up to those guys. I think ALL of us would rather have a type of sexual outlet that's both (a) invigorating, enjoyable, horny as hell, hot as hades, and (b) societally sanctioned. I'm not worried about people who understand that issue, and simply work outside of the trade-offs that our current society unfortunately would otherwise limit them to.

But there's the other side of the coin. For a while I was cruising the streets and getting WAY drunk and only ever mongering on substance-abuse highs (I told myself it was because I couldn't overcome my socially sanctioned repressions without drugs or alcohol, LOL), and I ended up with $20 crack TV's. Yuck. That was a form of addiction.

It's good to know the understanding is growing. I searched the 'net for "sex addict" once, and only got quasi-religious sites that preach abstinence. The main male character in "Six Feet Under" and his ex-girlfriend flirt with the notion that they're sexually addicted. I think this season, the woman (haha, like THAT'S a fair representation of the typical sex addict) has had to break up with him and go into therapy for it.

I can't afford to monger. But I do it anyway. Does that make me an addict? I find the money ... but it's not money I would have spent on something "more appropriate". So it's not like mongering is "interfering" with something ... or is it?

Anyway, good to discuss. I'm sure the psychologists have a tough line to draw, since with most other addictions the WHOLE behavior can be eliminated. Alcoholic? Don't drink EVER. Druggie? Don't shoot up EVER. But with food and sex addiction, you have to figure out how to do your "drug of choice" in a good way and resist doing it in a bad way. Odd way to have to manage a life ...
