Haven't you heard of the proverbial burnout?

As a baseball fan, I get bored after watching about 130 consecutive games. Every April I feel that this year is going to be different, but NO..Its not.. Come Sept, I don't even want to turn on the channel..

This year, I am going to pace myself so I am still excited about it come Sept, since Nats are supposed to go all the way to World Series..

Its all about pacing yourself..

...just not yet.  You see these threads on the Reviewer's Only Board all the time (am I allowed to disclose that guys?  It is OK because nothing specific, right?).

:-)

I am 18 months into the hobby and the only hint of this was somewhere around the 10th or 12th date with my ATF when I just wasn't "that excited" that morning. Left early, stopped at the sex shop in Alexandria on the way there, bought a toy for us to play with (a first for me) and some new lingerie and high-end lube for her, and off we went....best date ever, and it has been that way ever since.

It ebbs and flows at this point, there have probably been 2 weeks out of the past 8 where I haven't been interested in hobbying and that wouldn't have happened before.  But having three ATFs at this point, primary and then two others, is part of that equation too.  I know that they are going to leave me sexually and more importantly emotionally satiated, which severely increases the risk of disappointment when it comes to seeing prospective new providers.  A standard has been set now by these wonderful women.

Probably so, for many it's like the proverbial kid in a candy store when they start hobbying.

It seems the more comfortable some people get with their clients, the more bs they lay on them, the more they expect, and all that makeup, hair fixing, and lingerie turns into wet hair, no makeup, and a T shirt. Some guys like that, and some don't. Whatever you did to get those clients in the beginning, you have to KEEP doing or they will find someone else.

Sure I can see that after dozens (or hundreds) of BBBJs they all may seem to be the same. Likewise, with "screwing" hundreds (thouands!) of times. But it is about the unique experiences with each new lady you meet that keeps this from being mundane. Each lady has a different personality and if you take a little time to get to know them your experience with her will not be boring. One typical example for me is meeting a new lady and getting to the point where we get to Daty; for me it is a completely new experience with every lady - not only are there differences in the physical/anatomical makeup of each woman but most importantly in the way she reacts. So for me, when I meet a new lady it is always an adventure, a "voyage of exploration". Even with a regular or repeat lady I never get "bored."

Or, for the ladies who are with the same clients, and the service starts to drop after a while. Your point makes sense about variety though, and the law of diminishing returns usually connotes...same business, same service. With the hobby, it's always different.

so I think he is referring to that.

In any case, I still get a boost from this and I hobby at least once a week and have been doing so for 35 years or so.

I think the secret is to see both regulars and new people, and try some new things once in a while.

It also helps to stay in good physical (and fiscal) shape.

Mental shape, not so much.  8o)

In any relationship between two humans this is inevitable.  The reason some men come to the hobby in the first place is because life with the SO has lost that zip and of course women cheat because their existing relationship has stopped providing the needed validation,  intimacy, etc. So the answer I've found is to not lead an unexamined life. You should be thinking about your relationships,  working on them and generally being thoughtful about how we're living our lives. In the hobby that might mean taking a break, trying new activities,  etc. The only wrong answer is to just let yourself go through the motions unthinkingly. That's a sure route to burnout.

Sorry. Had to..

Everything gets old. I'll never get tired of having sex.
But the thrill I once got from the escort thing is definetly fading.
It sucks. I really like the rush I get.

is about when things are CONSTANT, they yield diminishing returns.
In relationships, civvie or pro, you have the ability to add a little extra effort or money, each and every time to improve the return. A little romance, even with a pro (that wants and will allow it), will yield better and better results in my experience. Contrariwise, if you keep everything constant, it will diminish, so in that case the change you add is, FRESH MEAT.

don't you think that the constant addition will plateau out over the period of time to the point where sex itself becomes monotonous and you are not looking forward to it anymore....??

iminishing returns is based on theory known as satiety. For example if you are thirsty, can’t get water, the first glass of water you get has the highest level of satiety and it decreases for every cup there after reaching zero, eventually. It goes up when you get thirst again.

If you apply the same concept, after the first ejaculation, the second one usually (me) is more satisfying unless your dick is broke or sore or can’t get it up. All of it depends on your physical shape, health condition, etc.

Does it apply in all cases, it is for you to figure out

If you're asking yourself this question, it implies that you have achieved the level of effectiveness or a goal you set out to achieve.  If I was asking myself this question I would definitely put some serious thought into my "what's next" for my own personal growth.  Maybe thats your sexual evolution, or maybe it's a different aspect of your life.  Either way, this type of self reflection is always an indicator that change is eminent.  Change is good.

For example, the first time you see someone it will be all new experiences, but there will be some moments where you try to figure everything out.  The 20th time you see that person, there may still be some new fun to explore, but all of the awkwardness is gone and the level of comfort is so much higher that the experience can actually be less erotic, but more enjoyable.

The same is true for the hobby collectively.  If your goal is to simply sleep with as many people as possible, the "effectiveness" of sex will be greatly diminished very quickly, but if along the way, you actually take some time to get to know people, the 'effectiveness' becomes far less diminished and the entire hobby experience becomes far more enjoyable. In fact I would argue that the 20th provider I slept with was probably a better experience that the 2nd because I had way more experience.  The first one will always be special, so that comparison isn't fair.
