When you're not in the best of health or may be contagious - do you cancel an appointment?  I always do since I don;t want to get someone sick.

Had a long planned encounter with a top rated escort cancelled since I'm recovering from one of those nuisances a fever blister.  Feel like I will now be viewed as a flake by her and she may be reluctant to reschedule.  But better that than show up and have her say - uh, no dice.

I wouldn't go into details with your fever sores and all.Tell her you have the flu and just get checked out by you Doctor and get well!

I agree, just let her know you do not feel well. I have had to do the same thing and instead of cancelling I explain the situation and say I am not feeling well .... we can still meet if you want however I would rather feel fantastic so that our time spent together can be of quality.
I let them make the decision.

Some of it depends (doesn't everything) on the atmosphere you anticipate with the provider.   Just getting over a head cold may not be the right time for kissy GFE, but may work just fine if your goal is to get impersonally diddled by an amazonian gal with an intimidating strap-on.

Hopefully, most providers appreciate your being conservative with their health, and those are ones you'll want to see anyway.  Those that let their financial goals outweigh their health may not have been the best candidates anyway.

BTW, can anyone else confirm this, and I ask this honestly...  Nothing, and I mean nothing, seems to clear up a sinus/head cold like DATY.  I have no idea what the hell you girls stock down there but seriously, it is like magic.  Simply moves my congestion problem from one location to another :^) but clears me up for a few hours.  Who knew.

As anyone in business can tell you, most any excuse is questioned at least privately as to the validity. Really, the only way to get out of being considered a flake, if it's that important to you, is to offer a gesture - offer to send $50-100, something along those lines.

I have it in my business - people back out of auction purchases all the time - if the guy offers to pay my expenses for listing the items for sale, it certainly makes the "excuse" a lot easier to swallow.

Yes, Zap.  DATY is the ultimate cure for a head cold.  As some may suspect, I've been practicing DATY on a regular basis for some time, just to keep my head clear, and I have not had a serious cold in some years.  I do occasionally get sneezing fits, but that seems to come only when I chew on Altoids; fortunately, while Altoids used to give my DATY a curiously strong boost, my regular partner has become numbed to them.  

Now, the bad news is this:  when I moved to my present state of residence, my DATY regimen was interrupted for about a month and I came down with pneumonia.  NS!  So it's not something you should give up lightly.

Well, since I think my state is also your state, I'll just make sure to keep DATY in my vitamin regimen.  Wonder if I can run provider expenses past my HMO's health maintenance account.

It should be a tax write-off that is for sure!

for your comments!  Much appreciated.  I decided to come clean and tell her the complete truth - want to maintain credibility with her so didn't want to give some vauge reason. i.e., not feeling well.  Now, how do providers view people who get fever blisters - is there any concern that person may have Herpes - the STD type.  I don't have the STD type herpes but do get fever blisters.  Hate it when I do!!

but seriously, I've had cold sores and just had to cancel - usually takes a week to heal and by that time their usually gone. I don't think she would mind as long as you don't wait till the last minute to re-schedule.  

And for Gods sake, don't speed to the appointment.

Actually, just FYI, /all/ fever blisters and herpes are STDs.  Not to pick at your terminology, but I'm taking part in a medical study right now investigating the effects of a herpes vaccine (don't get scared, I had to be 100% clean to participate), and trust me.  They filled my hands with literature and pamphlets which I read over and over while I was waiting for my initial test results.  Oh, the anticipation...

The only difference is where in your body the virus actually nests while dormant.  This is what divides *genital* herpes from *oral* herpes.  There is HSV-1 and HSV-2, USUALLY oral and genital respectively, but occasionally one moves into the other's domain.  For instance BBBJ on someone with genital HSV-2 might just give a provider the HSV-2 virus orally, with oral recurrences.  You never know.

It is also, I'm sorry to say, very possible to transmit the herpes virus even when you are NOT having an outbreak or a blister, although it's fairly uncommon.  It's referred to as asymptomatic viral shedding.  Look it up if you want.

On her behalf, thank you for being upfront about your condition.  It might have stopped me from seeing you, but I hope everything works out for you and you get to enjoy your time with her.

Now I know why I didn't have a cold for almost 10 yrs following my divorce. We should promote a new jingle--"A DATY a day keeps the doctor away". (Unless your SO/ATF is an MD).

"Fever blisters" are usually HSV-1, or HSV-2 on the face. Both of these subtypes are sexually transmitted diseases. Its very common. You probably know this, but your potential partner is the most likely to get infected on the first day when tingling is present and mild pain, or flu-like/run-down feeling sets in, not when the sores are crusted over. There is also one day a month of viral shedding in which the virus is completely undetectable on the skin. Its a roll of the dice, but its pretty low odds if you are careful, 1/30 days. I remember a good lady friend of mine got HSV-2 a few years ago and felt terrible. She completely freaked out for days. She was in a monogamous relationship with this guy and whammo, she had no idea what was happening to her. She just couldn't believe it. Its a social stigma, but it is so common.... One of the consoling things I mentioned to her at the time is that something like 1/3 of the LA population has HSV, (I am too lazy to find the link, maybe the CDC has a chart on this)and that there was a special dating group that she could join. She opted for telling her partners, and she was suprised that roughly 1/5 guys she told said they had it. She is on medication and is very happy. She told me she knows when she feels run down, and she just doesn't go out. Her friends were understanding. I would imagine the providers here would be understanding as well. I always feel its easier to honest.
