The quote button is stupid and just takes up space in the reply.
The classic version of TER doesn't even have a quote button....because the button sucks and the new version sucks.
Not changing the subject line is annoying, lazy, and stupid.

Just a tip....

More then half the time I can't tell who is responding to what comment on a post. All you have to do if you are responding to a particular poster is hit the "Quote" Button on their comment and don't change the subject...

That way... we can tell if you are responding to one Drunk Ass idiot or the other drunk ass idiots on here and can follow the back and forth commentary.

I easily get confused after reading all of the comments. If you think this post sucks... then just hit "Quote" and tell me how stupid I am.

Quit using the lame flat option and stick with the tree. It will solve your problem. We can't help it if you don't use the tools TER gives you.

Some of these threads get so long that posters are commenting on posters of the Original post that you have no idea who the fuck they are posting about.

In new TER on the upper right side. There is a view option called tree that makes it real clear to whom you are replying to. It is the default view on classic TER. Tree view makes the quote button redundant and unsightly. I am using quote as you don't seem to be able to follow any other way.

To find Tree view it is next to it says you have VIP you will see the two view options "View: Tree | Flat". Click tree and your issue of following posts that don't use the quote button is gone. You can only see one reply at a time but posts make much more sense and isn't made unsightly with unneeded quotes. I normally only use the quote button when pulling directly from the post I am replying to.

I have a question, How can you stand using flat view? Everything is much harder to follow. I have never once had an issue following a thread using the tree view, quotes or no quotes. Try it instead of trying to get the rest of us to change how we post. TER will be much more enjoyable if you do.

I remember what is in a post weeks after I read it so going back is not needed unless I want to have an exact quote in my reply. Now if I could type, spell, and write in proper English I would have it made.

I'll never use the quote.  It annoys the fuck out of me.  The flat view blows and if I ever created a site, I'd specifically disable that feature.  Go ahead and use it if it yanks your crank, but I'm not changing what I do because you refuse to use options that fix the problem you have.  Thinking out loud..."maybe I'll go in and edit out all the quotes to make ally-ass batshit crazy".

I agree, somewhat.  People can at least quote partially (cut and paste) or mention WHAT they are replying to or about.

One of my peeves is the failure to provide a reasonable, funny, informative, etc. subject line. Somebody (I think bi coastal beauty; I'm not sure; sorry if I'm wrong) ALWAYS changes the subject to X regardless of what she's writing about. A few boring replies and now I at least I know to skip over all of her replies.
