The young woman at the center of the historic downfall of the governor of New York is finally speaking out.

Ashley Dupré, the 23-year-old former escort who was the target of intense media scrutiny in the days after Gov. Eliot Spitzer's resignation from public office, has stepped forward to give her first television interview. Dupré told ABC News' Diane Sawyer that she does not feel responsible for Spitzer's downfall.

"If it wasn't me, it would have been someone else," she said. "I was doing my job. I don't feel that I brought him down."

She is hot, but...she is also right.  Dudes like Spitzer hobbied with impunity while hypocritically going after the rest of us.  He is a classic example of why I do not trust government..lying, two faced piece of shit...bastard!

what a narrow minded hypocritical society we live in. Making this whole business illegal remains one of the most bizarre things about our society and taking a lecherous interest in this lovely young women and her business disguised as moral outrage is beyond contempt.

No mention in the article how much ABC paid for the interview.  Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm certain most of us agree, she provided a service that many of us seek and/or need for a host of reasons.  As they say in the NBA, no harm no foul.

In her interview with "Charlotte, the Courtesan" Ms. Sawyer wrinkles her brow, makes facial gestures akin to someone listening to stories of great trauma, and continues to project her mock horror onto the subject who appears somewhat resistant to 'confessing.' Finally, the silhouetted woman 'admits' to having had 'emotional issues' in the past - a payoff and a chance for the audience to nod, shake their heads and go about their day.

The way Ms. Sawyer tries to elicit stories of abuse and dysfunction is particularly interesting, albeit slightly nauseating. Her voice also has a slight tremble, which matches her dilated pupils and concerned/alarmed posture. One more category of "diseased"sexual behavior transmuted into a characterological being - the emotionally troubled woman who is obliged to sell sex for a living.

Yes, television surely features a lot of troubled people, and I don't mean "Charlotte."

Unfortunately it appears that the media is unable to portray women who sell sex, at any level, as nothing more than abused victims of who were driven to evil and salacious behavior by family or circumstances beyond their control.
It irks me to no end that the media, and much of the public at large, can not accept the fact that a beautiful and intelligent woman might make the decision to market her natural assets for financial gain simply because it is a very good way to make a good living.

Do I recall correctly that she worked in the Nixon White House?  If so, that gives us a clue to her perspective.

It seems to me that, even taking the "sex for money is exploitation of women" stance as legitimate (which I do not), ABC will be exploiting her, in less than one hour, far more than all her previous hobbyists combined.

she followed Nixon devotedly back to California after his resignation and helped him with his papers and further writing.  This makes her the perfect arbiter of morality.

Still, exposed or not, I believe that a provider's most value product is not the sex, but the hush-hush that goes with it.  Whether the sex for pay is legal or not, the point of paying is to keep the engagement unexposed.  She earned her $4K for not speaking about it, not for the sex (which could be anywhere between mild and spicy).

I'm not happy she took the effort to speak out about it.  It's one thing to speak out about the profession, but never ever expose a client.  Lawyers don't do that, nor doctors, so should other professionals.

For why she is wearing THAT fugly outfit on national TV.
