The only response you would get to your queiry is the usual humdrum - stick to "well-reviewed" providers who screen thoroughly and you will be fine yada yada blah blah puke. Those posts never get any useful or thought provoking responses anyway.

and yes in some parts of the country TER is not the best information source. I would suggest that the OP PM some of the local guys in Portland for intel.

Especially dumb-ass ones that keep me from getting the most out of TER, to wit:

I have twice tried to post on this general forum inquiring about on experiences with hobbying in a particular area that I shall not mention.  Each time, my post has been deleted.  The reason given is that I should be posting on that particular regional board.  The only problem is, that particular board is absolutely moribund!  You can hear an echo whenever you enter it!  I'm traveling there in less than two weeks and would really like some input about law enforcement stings and that sort of thing, but I can't find it out posting on that regional board, and I'm disallowed from posting it on this board.

The mods are just doing their job. But, I am curious as to what would make you think you would get answers for a regional area here, when that area's board is dead? Do you think all of the people from that area post on the gd board instead? You think people from North Carolina or Phoenix or DC can tell you about police stings in portland? If there are people on this board who know the answers, then they would also help you on the regional board  What you need to do is look at other forums. TER is not the only one. There are areas of the country where other forums are more popular. The large dog, the reddish colored book, tits n ass, to name a few. By the way, the third one is popular in portland. If you don't already know of these or can't figure it out, pm me.

So the best intel isn't on TER. Sorry, folks, I know I am supposed to be a good shill for my corporate masters, but it's true.
