I was really into my last girlfriend (no pun intended) and didn't have problems getting it up. However, I sometimes had problems keeping it up and never had a problem when I used Viagra (I'm 65 though). Also have a friend that says he can do it more times in a day (or a session) with Viagra.
Viagra is not usually used to get it up. Like the other replies I can get it up with stimulation. Viagra helps it become firmer, without it I have been too soft to penetrate but more importantly it helps keep it up. You would be surprised the number of minor distractions that can occur when you have a medical problem that lets the blood back out as fast as you can get it in. With Viagra I maintain an erection just like I used to before the medical issue. I can take the pill over an hour before and I don't walk around with an erection.
