So things just turn on one day.. yet their is no announcement of why ... I am wondering what Changed.. ? So what gives.. ?why the policy change at this point? Don't get me wrong. I am stoked.. but would like to know what changed so I can decide on how active I wanna be here..
TER has a loooooooong history of treating its members like mushrooms (keep them in the dark and shit on them). So the lack of communication is no surprise.
That said, there has been an improvement from the old staff and it's also understandable that, considering the legal situation, they feel the need to play their cards close to the vest.
Patience.
I will only add that it's a shame that, after an initial flurry of interest, this board has settled back into a light coma.

Amazingly enough, the blind (and dumb) squirrel affectionately known as BobFromStateFarm seems to have found four acorns in a single post. TER has NEVER been particularly forthcoming on matters such as this, there has been a HUGE improvement from the old staff of late, and this indeed is a situation where it's perfectly understandable that TER would not want to air all its dirty laundry for all to see.
As for the "light coma" the boards have fallen back into, i will add that while the user count numbers have fallen back to where they were before the profiles were restored, i have noticed at least a few more people actually posting on the boards, especially the regional boards which were almost completely devoid of ANY conversation for months at a time, now seem to be showing faint signs of life. We can only hope this is a trend that continues and improves.
to hear from some local hobby bros that had been silent for a year and a half. Bringing back the US reviews is a great start, but US access would seal the deal in getting TER back on track.

I'd like some info on cause of the change.
Do not know firsthand, but am guessing it will be an evolving process. Probably have a much smaller staff and at least initially, seems it is taking longer to approve reviews as a result. Like with any business, probably are trying to figure out how many old users will return and if there is a need to increase staff.
Of course, who knows why they decided to change course. May be because a number of competing websites continued to service U.S. clients with no repercussions and now TER feels the dust just may have settled.
All speculation, of course. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe TER admin will reply to your post.
So not expecting them to do so now. I do know thru emailing with them over the last year that it was something TER was trying to figure out in the post Fosta/Sesta world we live in now.
That just my take on things.

When the posted the other day there were about 70 new reviews, now there’s 124. But on that day it showed 560 users online, as of this post there are only 443.
I seldom check the status here but will check more often now. The boards need ladies posting locally and here more to bring some life back, including the photo only board. More reviews are needed as well.
It would be nice not to need VPN but I’m ok using it. Having regional Ad boards are needed more.
So have patience, wait and see, this status might be all there is for a very long time.

People are hesitant to investing time in TER that might shut down again but people will slowly come back again.
If we're speculating, I would go with the need to eliminate any US financial links ... such as US citizens or people who visit the US being owners or employees, etc. This might have involved selling or transferring ownership, etc, finding employees etc.
I don't think anyone is assuming the US government is not going to enforce this ... so everything better be out of reach or they'll end up with long prison sentences.

I wrote the post below over a year ago. I have been using off-shore corporations since the 80's. Don't know why it took TER's lawyers so long to figure this out (or maybe they got NEW lawyers that knew their ass from a hole I the ground, as in burro does NOT equal burrow). TER has taken the first step, now the members have to pitch in and MTGA (Make TER Great Again).
So you can see how they made it safer?
We all know law is still the same. We all know that others sites are up .
Maybe they do not post, or explain because it has legal consequences of them posting on boards .
If you do not feel safe, just leave !!!

The poster that you are talking to is posting under an alias, so you have no idea just what kind of contributions he or she may have made over the years. What we do know for sure is that WTL has VIP membership, so it's VERY likely that he or she has contributed much more than you have over the couple of short years that you have been here. Ten reviews and less than 100 posts over a two year period hardly makes you a senior member here, just kind of clueless about how things work on TER.
I "could" have given you similar advice, that YOU "shut the fuck up" until YOU learn how things work around here, but I am a nice guy and I would never say such a thing. LMAO.
To answer your OP, as anyone who has been here for a while and who has actually been active on these boards could tell you. TER Admin has NEVER been very forthcoming about why they make the decisions they make. I don't see that changing any time soon. You're welcome.

been a member for two years NOT know that reviews do not display when using an alias? I'm hoping with Newbies coming back to TER discussion boards, the veterans here, both mongers and ladies, don't have to start dumbing down the discussions.
By his definition, Jake, one of the most knowledgeable mongers and prolific posters here doesn't know shit about P4P. The rest of us know otherwise. I used to be critical of alias' but I have come to have a few close friends that have shared why they use an alias almost exclusively, and its usually a result of a prior discovery of their TER posting by a wife or SO. You and I don't have that problem, but I can sympathize with those that do.
How does one know that the post is made with an alias.. to then be able to conclude this is an alias thats why their are no reviews?
And when you click on it, you can only see posts. When you click on username you can see reviews and you can send PMs

To clarify regarding alias and reviews and messaging . Yes an alias user name is shaded gray and does not present there reviews or the ability to message them here. However, if you search reviews by reviewers (try mine for example) an alias can review, and can be messaged. And true, TER only allows an alias for those who have VIP status.
And as GaG and I said, TER is seldom forthcoming with information posted on the boards, try sending them a message or email.
So you pontificate about alias.. then gauge my post count assuming all my activity is without the benefit of using them..
Care to translate that into English? Understand the "pontificate" part although it's way out of context with the rest of your post. But honesty from that point on, makes little sense. Weren't you paying attention when your 3rd grade teacher explained the importance of writing complete sentences? Best way to communicate.
Also, TER provides a FAQ for newbies, discussion board that may help you navigate TER. Of course it will not improve your command of the English language but at least you will become more familiar with TER. But be careful, it is written on the 7th grade level. You may need to use an online dictionary.
