This HAREBRAINED idea of having rotating moderators, providers as mods, and "cruise directors" is the most bone headed ill conceived idea to EVER come down the pike in my 9 years  tenure on this site. Bar NONE!  This is such a dumb ass idea I don't know where to begin, but here goes.

A) Guys pay providers for BJs & Fucking NOT for them have access to their IP addresses, aliases, board posts and other info.  This is insane,

B) Moderators obviously have powers of "moderation".   Does any guy on this board trust providers to not gag them for past posts, their reviews, political incorrectness, or any other info?  Puhleeeeeez.

C) Moderators have to approve provider ads. Do girls TRUST ad approval to OTHER catty jealous providers??? What a joke.

D) Posters/members will have to get used to a new Mod STYLE every few weeks or month? That's absurd.

E) Rotating Mods, and providers as mods will NOT cause harmony or happiness. Providers will resent other provider mods. Guys will NEVER trust provider mods, and there will be more anger, hostility, and bitterness than there is now, or ever has been on this site.  There are already too many mods on this site that don't know WTF they're doing with access to member info.  (IPs, Aliases, and board posts etc).  

F) Are temporary provider or male Mods going to have access to the Mod board?  No way is that smart.

G) TER is and always has been a men's site to review women. That's what guys pay for. NOT to be at the MERCY of providers or temporary imbeciles  on boards. Guys are going to mutiny, and revolt if providers now control their board destiny, can threaten them, can see their IPs, can see their aliases, and all their board posts.  Guys will LEAVE TER.  By the same token, girls do not want to be at the mercy of some other crazy provider with an agenda. Girls shit on each other all the time. What do you people think will happen if Betty gets control over Mary's posts, ads, IP, aliases & board posts????    Puhleeeeez.

I could go on, but in short this  fucktard idea is senseless, ill conceived, a mess, and a not practical.

I read the link and the post that you are mentioning and it sounds
to me like..

This would not have happened if everyone knew how to behave to begin with..

We are not in high school and we should all learn to behave as if we are NOT in high school..

This whole thread is a prime example of people behaving badly!

Examples. People being down right rude and mean to newbies
so and so does not like so and so . SO.. we can't be friends.
Cussing like sailors instead of gentlemen
caddy High school drama between ladies
etc, etc. the list goes on and on..

Jessica I'm pretty sure the main issue everyone had was that these "cruise directors" would have the same access to info that the mods had. If that were the case then I agree with them. That is an extremely Bad idea.

On the Atlanta board this morning there is more info. The Atl and Fla boards are the ones involved. I put the link here so all can check it out. Bottom line the "cruise directors" won't have information access like the mods.

Hello all. We wanted to take a moment and update you as to the changes on this board.

We are taking a few of the boards in a new, well actually old, direction. This is one of the boards that we have chosen.

First, in no way have the moderators of this board done anything wrong. We do want to thank them for all of the hard work that they have done and hope that they stay as active as always. So that you so much for all of your help in the past, and hopefully in the future.

So were is this place headed? We have a great group of people who are on here every day, and that is a great thing. That being said, we have a large group of people who do not spend any time on the boards. We talked to many of these users and they say that this area of the site is scary to them, for many reasons. We understand that the boards are not tat welcoming to newbies at times, among other issues. So to fix this we really need to become a more helpful group. How are we hoping to do this? We would like to start by asking people to answer posts by new users, instead of simply pointing out that their question has been answered in the past and that they should search the old posts. Also, the boards can become really mean and a bit hurtful at times. This needs to stop. Finally, I know that a lot of the cursing is done in jest, but it needs to stop. Points can be made with out this.

Now on to the fun stuff, the moderator spots will be replaced by a couple of “cruise director” (for the lack of a better term) spots. The spots will be on a voluntary basis and be one guy and one girl per board. If you aren’t chosen initially, do not worry because we will rotate these spots on a regular, predefined interval. It is our hope that this will ensure and everyone is has a chance to contribute on an equal basis.

We will begin the new cruise director spots in a week or two. If you would like to volunteer, submit a feedback.

not even your neighborhood, unless you live in a really small town, in which case sometimes it is way off base and just gives the nearest larger town.

Someone who is VERY tech savvy MAY be able to track an address down, but it's not nearly as easy to do as these "the sky is falling" types would like you to believe.  You cannot just google it.  LMAO.  LE can do it, but only with a warrant.  

I'm not saying it's not possible for the right person with the right info to track it, but I would bet quite a bit of money that the VAST majority of people here can't do it (even if they claim otherwise).  I would even submit that the only folks here who can do it are LE.

There's a reason why some of our friends get hit with viruses and we can spammed by them on a regular basis. Because they don't regularly secure their computers. Even if they do, sometimes there are zero day holes that remain unpatched.  Did you know that Internet Explorer still has several holes that remain unpatched?

Forgot to download and install that security update for a few months? Hey you left open a back boor!  Certain people now have access to your computer, most of your personal files, and you probably wouldn't even realize it because these folks prefer to stay discreet.

Running a certain P2P client or loaded with some other crap ware?  Regularly surf different porn sites and download adult content? Well, thanks for the many invitation cards! Only a matter of time before finding an open port or two among all the shit-ware you run.

Hosting a website for your personal site or home business?  Well, then your address is right there on the web page. lol

Posted on a message board that posts your IP?  well now we have your real email and sometimes your personal name.

...etc...

LE aren't the only ones who can get access.

But seriously, the purpose of my post is to refute the prior poster's claim that an address can be found by googling an IP address.  Nope, it can't.  The poster was wrong, and that was my primary point.  

You seem to agree, since your scenario requires very specific circumstances and must be manipulated by someone with highly technical skills.   And someone with those skills would be able to hack your computer without your IP address, but that's really beside the point.

So let's stop arguing every possible scenario that can be imagined, and start getting real.

Well, I agree, it's usually not easy to find the physical address by punching in the IP unless you know what you're doing.

However, if we incorporate the odds of finding someone with such skills among the population, it is not a percentage to ignore. Lets keep in mind that information security is a very rapidly growing field.  
Leaving your IP too exposed is generally not a good idea.... might as well just use your real number
because the circumstances that it becomes exposed is not much different from the circumstances that your real number becomes exposed (outed).  Anything linked to your name shouldn't be readily exposed, IMHO.

For example, consider these two scenarios and tell me how they are different. Both are some random strange scenario, according to you... but in my opnion it's a typical way of becoming outed.

Scenario 1)  You use your home number for hobby. Somebody black lists you for some strange reason because you walked out on an ugly chick who falsely advertised.  Your # is now on the black list.
Or a secratary who used to work for some agency decides to go rogue and plasters all clients that she didn't like on her blog, with real names work info photos and all (this happened by the way)

Scenario 2) You regularly browse an online message board... totally unrelated to the hobby. It is one of those message boards that prints your IP address next to each of your posts. (These are common by the way, especially older boards that are more established) In fact every website you visit knows your IP, sometimes those weblogs are not kept private and made scannable by web spiders such as google.

The new rotating-mod who has a beef against you and has ill intentions decides to look you up online to find out what your IP digs up. Oh look, he found your message board posts! Now he knows your email!  And from that he finds your facebook profile, and your family photos, all your friends.

It's not "every possible scenario" but rather very plausible case, no different from Scenario 1 which was also based on some typical scenario where one becomes outed.

Lets not forget that everyone has an online presence somewhere and it's just a matter of checking off one line in some script to unlist or print your IP.  Not the best idea to expose it, especially in this hobby.

An IP address is unique to your computer or router if you are on a home network. It can be tracked to your house specifically. It will reveal your identity. It is not easy to do but can be done in minutes if your know how. IP address is transmitted with every email and website visit.
The map can trace to your town because the IP address itself is made of numbers signifying locations, however IF you have the IP address and the internet providers name, you can lookup the info and find out who owns it, address, etc....
NOW, the question is, other that identity theft or stalking what can the mod do with this info??

I still blame admin for causing the uproar. They strip some moderators of thier positons with no warnings or announcements. Then one week later they post this rotating "cruise director" thing and sure make it sound like these cruise directors will have  all the powers of a mod. Then today they come out with the idea that these "cruise directors" have no mod powers and only act as facilitators. (See Atlanta board, or xyz23's post above for the link)

Now I don't have a problem with this latest idea. It kind of makes most of the OP's points moot, as well as my rant in the thread below. However, if TER actually told us what they were doing sometimes when they make big changes, that would be nice. Also I'm still not so sure the whole "cruise director' thing wasn't originally intended to have full moderator powers. Maybe our ranting and whining, caused them to rethink this whole thing last night.

Slight correction:  TER is a board for “members” to review escorts. But, either way, as has been said many times before, mods have no control or influence over reviews.

So? I’m getting an IP address assignment from my ISP (as are you). Assuming mods can see that IP, what do you think they’re gonna do with it? It is nothing more than an IP address from a particular ISP. In this context it is  anonymous, and means nothing. A mod can’t  see my IP and  say: “ah-HA!. 201.70. 5.6 belongs to HP, who is actually Jane Doe who lies at…….

“ [provider] Mods will be able to see your alias(s)”.

So? If you use an alias to hide your anonymous username (alias), mods still do not know who is actually behind your user-name. No one ‘in the real world’ knows who lives behind that user-name/alias, unless you tell them. If you have something sensitive to say about a provider, or provider review, there is  a RO board (or, alternatively, there is a PO board for offline discussion providers do not want posted publically). Otherwise, if you’re saying something (under an alias of your alias) that you’re so worried about a mod being able to connect to your alias, the issue might be more with how you’re saying something—than what you’re saying. Even if your question is sensitive, hard to see how this would be a problem as long as everyone else is keeping it civil, and acting like adults when responding.

The posting guidelines are the posting guidelines. If a post is getting outside the guidelines, it’s getting outside the guidelines. Those guidelines don’t’ change just because a mod changes. Again, hard to see how this would be a problem as long as you’re keeping it civil and acting like an adult.

A mod, who is also a provider, can’t be trusted to behave ethically with other providers ad’s? C’mon. I think we can afford to give a bit more credit than that. And, an ad is an ad is an ad. Either it meets ad guidelines and is posted in the correct place, or it’s not. I could as easily say that any male mod might play favorites with providers.

I hardly see what the panic is about.

Has anyone at admin said this cruise director idea was going to take place on the Gen Board? I've just seen posts by admin on two boards, the FL and Atlanta boards.

It seems alot of people here are upset and think it's going to happen here on the Gen Board as well as alot of other boards.

I really haven't decided how I feel about the changes yet so I'm trying to see if I missed something.

Any info out here on this happening on the Gen Board or any other boards besides the FL and Atlanta boards? And please don't take my post as saying I like what is being planned, I'm clearly not saying that.

F) Are temporary provider or male Mods going to have access to the Mod board?  No way is that smart.

G) TER is and always has been a men's site to review women. That's what guys pay for. NOT to be at the MERCY of providers or temporary imbeciles  on boards. Guys are going to mutiny, and revolt if providers now control their board destiny, can threaten them, can see their IPs, can see their aliases, and all their board posts.  Guys will LEAVE TER.  By the same token, girls do not want to be at the mercy of some other crazy provider with an agenda. Girls shit on each other all the time. What do you people think will happen if Betty gets control over Mary's posts, ads, IP, aliases & board posts????    Puhleeeeez.

I could go on, but in short this  fucktard idea is senseless, ill conceived, a mess, and a not practical.
BUT ask me how I really feel ???!!!!!!!

Some ideas fabulous, more often not so much.  But providers are moderators on other sites and things aren't going to hell in a hand basket because of it.  People in this industry, pro and client, are typically great natured folks but some are fucking assholes I wouldn't pay James Harrison to piss on if they were on fire.  You know this is has been a historically pro male/client board and that's the way it's been forever.  But don't think for a minute that men have not been affected or been made victim of the abuses of those moderators who have agendas, good ole boy systems, are general fucktards or out and out extorting and abusing men and women both.  Each of us should control our board destiny by being decent in our posts and respectful or our opinions and differences, regardless.  If someone wants to act like a dick, they should have to pay a fair price (male or female)

If being a moderator were a paid and worth while position, as in not free labor, things would be different as well.  They, all of them, seem forced to deal with a level of bullshit I can hardly wrap my head around.  The only reason I do get it is because I am an experienced provider with room stories that could make you laugh and cry just as much.  Only I actually get paid for it :)
