Tryst turns into $50K robbery for RNC delegate By STEVE KARNOWSKI, Associated Press Writer

Police are trying to find a woman who apparently drugged a Republican National Convention delegate and robbed him of about $50,000 worth of jewelry, cash and other items in his hotel room.

Gabriel Schwartz, a Denver attorney and party donor, told police he met the woman in a bar at the luxurious Hotel Ivy in downtown Minneapolis and invited her to his room early on Sept. 4, a few hours after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin accepted the GOP vice presidential nomination.

Once there, police say, the woman made drinks and told Schwartz to get undressed.

The 29-year-old delegate told police that was the last thing he remembered. Police believe he was drugged but aren't sure what drug he was given, police Sgt. William Palmer said Tuesday.

When Schwartz awoke, the woman was gone and so were cash and belongings that included a watch he valued at $30,000.

"We have no doubt this happened," Palmer said. "The guy has been very forthcoming with us. He's been very helpful in the investigation."

The delegate gave police a detailed description, but investigators had no suspects, Palmer said. He stressed that investigators don't believe Schwartz did anything wrong.

"It's embarrassing to admit that I was a target of a crime," Schwartz said in a statement Tuesday. "I was drugged and had about $50,000 of personal items stolen."

"As a single man, I was flattered by the attention of a beautiful woman who introduced herself to me. I used poor judgment. If there is any good that can come from this humiliation, it is to caution others that date rape drugs can be used on men, too," he said.

Associated Press writer Steven K. Paulson contributed to this story from Denver.

With everything that is happening, I hate to see money wasted on things like a $30K watch or a $250K automobile.  It would be far more reasonable and mature to use that money wisely.  Think of the great week ends you could spend with some of the great providers on TER for $30K rather than wasting it on a watch. That would be a reasonable and mature way to spend such money.

The first thing I thought of when I read this was that I could see my ATF every week for a year for the price of that watch...

Honestly, I don't really need to know what time it is all that badly...

who routinely defend the prices of "High dollar Hotties".

My watch isn't a much less than $30K. I can afford it, I like it, and it's noone else's business.

We routinely defend providers that charge $1000 hr. I won't spend a grand an hour, but I don't hold it against anyone who does.

Lol, I could care less if the guy has a $30,000 watch for each day of the week. I simply made a light hearted post about how I would spend the thirty grand. My Blackberry is actually what I use to tell time. I haven't worn a watch in years...

By the way, I don't recall defending any thousand dollar an hour providers lately but, FWIW, just as you can spend as much on a watch, or an escort, as you like I feel that they should be able to charge charge whatever they like for "cleaning your clock".

It's all about choices here GG. I don't see how I put anybody down in my first post simply by stating my preferences for how I spend my money.

I meant to post under DrJoes post, not yours.

My bad.

I meant what I said, I just didn't mean to direct it towards you.

The same goes for $250,000 cars or multi million houses. I don't care what others do.

Though, I kinda think Dr. Joe was kidding around as well....

No offense meant, really. I understand how one who could afford it might be willing to spend a fortune on a beautiful watch or pen or car or antique.

I am frankly surprised TER members are not into watches.  In fact my daily wearer is a watch well past 30k...

If I were either life would be much less exciting. What's wrong with a $250K car if you can afford it? If you work hard and can afford it, why not? Even if you don't work hard, so what?

I think a person should spend his/her money on what makes "them" happy. For some it's a high dollar hottie, for others it's a piece of bling.

You are, of course, absolutely right.  I am sorry to have offended.

I am neither mature, reasonable, and I spend a lot of time of the P&R board. That must be where I lost my sense of humor.

I'll try to lighten up, or at least not jump back and forth between the P&R board and the more civil venues. lol

Now don't I feel like a jerk. lol

rolex has a watch for 75K and no better than the 30K!!!

anyway there are serial numbers on that watch and she will have to sell it to an unreputable repair watch outfit and scraps them out for parts!!!

It could have been worse he could have been killed I bet chloraform was used always make your own drinks and never let it out of your site

I wonder if the democrats experienced the same misguided Miss Fortune ;-)

Looks like they spent their budget on porkbarrel again.

From what I understand there where plenty of undercover cops trying to bust working girls so how did they miss this pro lady. You know this was not her first and by far she is a very talented seductress.

LE wouldn't care about her: she is only a thief who provides no service; you -on the other hand- provide a wonderful service for a fair price and make your clients very happy.  They have got to put a stop to that kind of thing,

did she bother stealing his watch and his other possessions? it doesn't make any sense, I think she was just an opportunistic gold digger,
albeit, a pretty one.

She is a professional thief who preys on gentlemen like this all the time. She came there ready to drug him and take whatever he had.

You know that was not the first time she has done this and has left many unsuspecting gentlemen this way. Some may have been married and didn't want to go to LE.

When I said Pro, she has this down to a science and knows that many men are looking for company while away. She will continue till caught

That watch better come with a set of lips, and do a lot more than let me know what time it is.

Why all the heat for a guy wearing a nice watch?  If you do the math, he supposedly lost $50k in personal belongings.  Sounds like a bit of inflation to me personally, but even taking him at his word, that means that he had another $20k worth of "stuff" in his room.  So, it's not like he spent his last couple bucks on a watch.

So, lets assume that he knew that the police report would be used for insurance purposes.  He has a Rolex, with the diamond bezel and president bracelet.  He's got a laptop (top of the line, no doubt) and a couple grand in cash.  If he can get $50k back, he can replace the watch, laptop and have enough money for a provider each week for the remainder of the year.  So, you see, the watch was a VERY good investment.

I'm too practical. I would just as soon wear a bathing suit all day without a lot of jewelry than to worry about buying a thirty-thousand dollar watch. Of course, if I were worth a about 20 million, it probably wouldn't matter how much I spent on a watch. Still, I can think of better things to buy. I could never fathom having so much money and buying 10 cars, etc. I would rather have a beautiful house -- maybe at the most 4,000 square feet, travel and eat out all the time, and still have a lot left over for charities and to help family and friends.

Sure, I like to dress up from time to time and put on the jewelry, but I tend to wear my costume jewelry more than my good stuff. I think I should have been born a man. :)

review. Perhaps that guy should write one?

Looks: 10,
attitude: seductive, very relaxing
Performance: not sure

Hepzabah was truly beautiful  Her demeanor was friendly and I found myself completely relaxed before I knew it.  I am not sure about her performance but I will say I was "gone" soon after she started. I can truly say, I will never forget her, she fxxked me royally.

Ver true,
SHE was not a provider but a robber posing as a provider.  Yes, I would have better use for a 30g than a watch.
I have to agree, also, this guy was single...  bet most victims were married & dared not report it truthfully.  So she's still out there...

If only people would watch reruns of Seinfeld more often and heed their lessons, such things would not happen.

There is an episode where George is snookered into getting handcuffed to the bed while the femme fatale makes off with his suit because he had only $8 in his wallet.

A nice watch and pinky ring can easily exceed $50K. I don't carry cash like I used to, but I used to routinely carry ten or twenty grand on me during my casino gambling days in case I ended up a casino that I didn't have credit at, that coupled with the Cellini that I wear add up to over 50K also.

Whenever I travel to Latin America I usually bring $10K in cash, I don't like hitting the ATM's constantly for a few hundred in cash.

That said, I do use common sense and only stay in hotels that have room safes. and I will leave my watch in my room safe alonf with most of my cash when I am going to be in the seedier parts of town.

Let's face it, $50K aint what it used to be

This is an earlier recorded interview of the victim.

let this be a lesson on why Not to pick up some chick in a bar.  Go with the pros more reliable and reviewed.

Thats why I don't wear a watch..or any bling , and only carry twenty bucks..
