First, a story of my own. I met someone, "Alice," at an agency location and had a great time. Several months later, I saw an ad for "Betsy" (different pics, indy ad) and arranged to meet at her hotel incall. I'm thinking that Betsy is a new provider and I wanted to meet her. Lo and behold! When I got there, I saw that Betsy and Alice are the same! She remembered me, too, and we joked a little bit. A few months later, I saw an ad for "Carol" but this time I could see that A = B = C and I've seen Carol several times since.
The point being, my FIRST thought is that I wanted to meet a new girl, Betsy, based on pictures and ad copy. But when I got there, it was "Hay! Aren't you Alice? We met before at that place!" It turns out that I was right, A = B = C. But it could have been that Betsy only reminded me Alice and A =/= B.
If Alice and Betsy were two different people, then I think this is your situation. Client met A, visited B, thought that B = A, went thru all the details (location, date, etc) but still Betsy is not Alice (or is lying and trying to avoid being recognized as the old Alice).
It sounds to me like that's what might have happened to you. Client saw "Zoey," wanted to see someone else, liked Sasha's ads, pics, whatever, and made the appointment to see Sasha. When client got there, he actually thought that Sasha was Zoey but was mistaken.
So the client had a very good memory of some aspects of his meeting with Zoey (they were good ones, I hope) and when he asked you about the place-you-never-were it's because he was remembering Zoey and you matched enough details that he thought that Z = S.
I think he was saying that "Zoey" (or whoever it was) was definitely memorable, just not 100% accurately enough to realize that you are NOT Zoey.
I hope I explained that the way I meant it.

Have you been mistaken for a different provider? I have had at least two instances, where the client swears he met me at a place where I basically have never been, and the description is clearly of a different provider. It can be a little awkward. You're basically telling me "you weren't that memorable" lol.
