It could actually be a good thing ...

Have you been mistaken for a different provider? I have had at least two instances, where the client swears he met me at a place where I basically have never been, and the description is clearly of a different provider. It can be a little awkward. You're basically telling me "you weren't that memorable" lol.

Any uncomfortable situations you've found yourself in? how did you react?

If you know how the brain works and how it forms memories ... it is sometimes faulty, and forms false memories.

One of the ways this could happen is if he was with another provider, but he was thinking of you. In those situations, our brains sometimes create a false memory by placing the person we were thinking of in to our recollection of that event.

A real-life example I read about: A guy is with his good friend, walking down the street, and they were talking about their favorite coffee shop. When suddenly there is a car accident just ahead of them.

Weeks later, when recalling the accident, he remembers the accident as having happened while they were at the coffee shop together. :-) She kindly reminds him that they never actually visited that coffee shop together. Yet, the memory by now is so well-formed in his mind that being at the coffee shop has become his alternate reality.

So this is just a theory, but it's quite possible that he thinks of you when he is with other providers or dates.

First, a story of my own. I met someone, "Alice," at an agency location and had a great time. Several months later, I saw an ad for "Betsy" (different pics, indy ad) and arranged to meet at her hotel incall. I'm thinking that Betsy is a new provider and I wanted to meet her. Lo and behold! When I got there, I saw that Betsy and Alice are the same! She remembered me, too, and we joked a little bit. A few months later, I saw an ad for "Carol" but this time I could see that A = B = C and I've seen Carol several times since.

The point being, my FIRST thought is that I wanted to meet a new girl, Betsy, based on pictures and ad copy. But when I got there, it was "Hay! Aren't you Alice? We met before at that place!" It turns out that I was right, A = B = C. But it could have been that Betsy only reminded me Alice and A =/= B.

If Alice and Betsy were two different people, then I think this is your situation. Client met A, visited B, thought that B = A, went thru all the details (location, date, etc) but still Betsy is not Alice (or is lying and trying to avoid being recognized as the old Alice).

It sounds to me like that's what might have happened to you. Client saw "Zoey," wanted to see someone else, liked Sasha's ads, pics, whatever, and made the appointment to see Sasha. When client got there, he actually thought that Sasha was Zoey but was mistaken.

So the client had a very good memory of some aspects of his meeting with Zoey (they were good ones, I hope) and when he asked you about the place-you-never-were it's because he was remembering Zoey and you matched enough details that he thought that Z = S.

I think he was saying that "Zoey" (or whoever it was) was definitely memorable, just not 100% accurately enough to realize that you are NOT Zoey.

I hope I explained that the way I meant it.

Good question; I'm sure there have been a few for all of us.  Here's mine: when I was just starting out I had to get screened with employment info.  I had taken the job I had a couple of months before I got screened and apparently our website was not yet updated with my name associated with my phone extension. In fact, my predecessor's name was still on the site and still associated with the number.

So dumb me, when I got an email from the provider's assistant I thought I was all set only to find i was being ripped a new one for being a lying cheating piece of shit.  I said while that may be true I really was who I said I was and had to prove it 9 ways to sunday because I really wanted to see this provider.

Since then the provider, the assistant and I have become great and regular friends and laugh about this every now and then. But looking back, if I knew then what I know now and something like this happened, I probably would have said 'thanks but no thanks' and moved on.  But I was new, horny, and my honor was at stake. So I foolishly gave everything but my dental records to prove I was me and looking back I got lucky as we both know each other's full identities and our kids names etc.    So I guess the moral here is that sometimes you have to get lucky to get lucky lol.

I was gone from the business for about 5-6 years.  I've had quite a few of my old regular friends find me again; I've also had some who didn't realize it was me but instead thought I was someone new.

When I remember them, but they don't recall me?  Yes, that can be uncomfortable.  LOL.

So now I wait to see if they mention having met before.  Sometimes they're waiting to see if I remember them and that's often obvious.  In those cases, I'll bring it up as subtly as possible.  ;-)

And another hobbyist was mistaken for me.

I was at a meet and greet party in Las Vegas.  There I came across a provider that I had recently seen and reviewed.  I thought meeting her there would be awkward because my review of her was less than stellar (she was a clock watcher and acted uninterested during the session).  I was hoping to avoid her, but she saw me and came over to say hi.  She proceeded to start an enthusiastic conversation with me.  I figured she must not have ever read the review so I proceeded to talk to her.

After conversing for a few minutes, another guy walks in to the room, someone that I knew well from talking with at previous meet and greet parties.  Looking over at that other guy, the provider says to me: "There's that ass hole Morse, who gave me a bad review. I need to stay away from him otherwise I'll punch him in the face."  I did my best to keep from laughing and quickly excused myself from her presence.

After the party I checked TER and sure enough, the other hobbyist had reviewed her soon after I did, and his review was much more complimentary than mine.  At a subsequent meet and greet party (the provider in questions was not present) I told the other hobbyist about the incident and we both had a good laugh about it
