First and foremost, please do not relegate to the 60 and Over Board.  There are too few hits on that board and I am afraid I won’t be able to have my issue addressed.

In a few months I will hit Medicare, and throughout my research, I have discovered the price for Androgel/TGel is astronomical.  Part D and All supplements do not cover.  It is about $1400 per month for 2 bottles!

Can anyone recommend a Compounding Pharmacy or an inexpensive option to obtain this?  Thanks in advance!

I would seek out a body builder forum...they seem to have good answers for this.

…Finding a clinic that has more reasonable parameters in regards to healthy testosterone, free test, estrogen, etc levels that warrant hormone therapy. Meaning easier to qualify if your readings are on the lower end of the spectrum but still in range by “normal” clinical standards. As another said, check out some bodybuilding forums or even youtube videos to see if they mention any TRT clinics. Have your bloodwork done and mailed to them, and they can prescribe the real deal instead of a cream or gel. That is if you don’t mind injecting yourself. I believe that this would be cheaper, more reliable, and you may only have to inject once or twice a week.

Even with the perfect keto diet, all the natural test boosting supplements, and exercise, your body may not respond as much as you’d like. I don’t know of any other alternatives other than the cream/gel or getting into actual needle work. There are orals you can take that enhance your hormone levels in various ways but, as far as I know, you can’t stay on them as they are hell on your liver and probably heart.

I’ve been on TRT for 15 years based on a doctor’s prescription. I inject myself every two weeks rather than use that nasty gel. I’m on Medicare and Part D and it covers my testosterone. The only thing it doesn’t cover is the needles and syringes, but those only cost a dollar or two each. You might try that.

wouldn't cover it either.  I started on the gel, but it was a daily dose, which I would often forget to do.  I switched to the intramuscular injections (thigh or hip) which only requires an injection every 4 days and costs me about $75 a month.  Dosing frequency varies from person to person so the cost will vary some if you are using more or less than I am, but its still going to be a lot cheaper than the gel.  However, this is not for the needle-phobic.  There are two companion drugs that you take with it that have been discussed on this forum within the past few months.   A search should get you the info.  I'm looking into using a compounding pharmacy, too, to get all three in the same injection, but because they metabolize at slightly different rates, I'm not sure yet if its going to be right for me. Make sure your urologist is up on the latest science.   My first doc was a little behind the times, so I switched to one that a fellow gym rat recommended. If cost is your primary concern, I think the compounding route will be more expensive than taking the three drugs separately, but that will probably still be cheaper than the gel.  You should still do it.  It will change your life.  I started five years ago to improve my workout results, and the most noticeable side effect was better wood.  Who doesn't want that???  Lol

Hard to interpret exactly what you're paying $1,400/month for, but check GoodRx as a reference for pricing. The site also compares brand name to generics.

Re: 🤔 Don’t you think since he said it would be $1400 a month for 2 bottles,
That 2 bottles is a months supply? 🤦🏻‍♂️
Oops! You're right, I missed that part.

Check them. Below is a bit of copy just a few minutes ago from their site:

The lowest GoodRx price for the most common version of generic Androgel is around $52.24, 88% off the average retail price of $466.67.

CDL's info totally spot on. Intramuscular injections only  way to go to get your T-levels back to where they were when you were 28. My T-levels were 280 when I got on board with this program, now 900-1100, wow, what a difference!!

see link below
Royal Medical Center also found on Twit and F-book. TOTALLY LEGIT US company. They ship all you need every 60 days.

Before you administer testosterone get your physician to do a blood draw for your testosterone baseline. If your testosterone level is normal administering injectable testosterone can put you at an increased risk for a heart attack. Always best done under medical supervision.

F2M transsexual.  I doubt her T was normal for a male when she started.

The problem with your analysis is the overbroad nature of the term "normal" when it comes to TRT.  275 is considered normal, but so is 850, which three times as high.  As a TRT user, I can tell you from personal experience that the difference in your energy levels and the way you feel between a 275 and 850 level, is extraordinarily different.  If you go to just a normal family doctor, they will often tell you at 275 that you are normal and no treatment is necessary.  See a urologist who is a specialist in TRT if you want the best advice and supervision of your treatment.

I do seem to recall a sex change being discussed a few years ago but not sure that happened. Maybe she'll clarify.

transitioning, and that is a process, sometimes taking years of hormone treatments, breast reduction, etc.,  before they actually get the addadicktome surgery.

My words of caution regarding testosterone injections were not directed to Hex per se. "Normal" lab results typically involve a range for reasons that I can elaborate on but are not essential for this discussion. Your personal empirical evidence notwithstanding my warning is simply this: don't inject testosterone until you know your testosterone level as you may be placing yourself at an increased risk of an adverse cardiovascular event. I agree you would be better served by seeing either a urologist, especially one who specializes in sexual medicine, or an endocrinologist.
