On one hand you are fighting the good cause, on another .... your emphasis on "recovery" gives impression that sex workers are powerless, addicted to sex work and all they need is 12 step program.

Nowhere on your site could I find references to any practical help you offer to women and men trying to transition from sex industry.

So while I support your efforts, I would prefer to see something that could actually HELP those who want to quit sex work.

Just an FYI - if you know of anyone who needs some help to quit and/or recover from being in the sex industry or as a trafficking victim - please put them in touch with Sex Workers Anonymous

and I see absolutely nothing on their website that relates to those issues.

They collect donations and sell Recovery Guide .  I would like to see how those funds are spent.

Is it spent to provide temporary housing for sex workers in transition?  Medical testing?  Education? Day care services for single moms in the industry?

Much like a church, religion, or 12 step. I don't like to detract from any organizations work when they are helping people . Although the majority of these groups, have an our way or the highway approach. Wihch will only help people while they choose to believe.

Perhaps you should speak with Sharon Mitchell who ran A.I.M.  One of the salient features of her program was providing services for those who wanted to transition to the mainstream economy.

I agree. Hookers for Jesus is the one I give funds to on a regular basis, because they do in fact provide housing and get women ready for real world jobs, not just tell them to quit without knowing what that might mean. A woman with 3 children she was left supporting on her own, is not just going to up and quit unless someone offers her a better option...that has nothing to do with addiction, but survival. If you can't help her and her children survive...what's the point of preaching?

Some women here can go out tomorrow and get a corporate job, but they choose not to for whatever reason. I think these programs were designed for women who truly have no other options job skills, or education, and I think that is a great thing. I too, would like to see just what "help" is available. I am more of an "action type" gal myself, so skip the bs and start walking the walk. You can't just send women to some website or hand them a pamphlet when we are talking about tossing thousands of dollars a month...you have to GIVE THEM a better option.

there aren't many options that can come close to the cash flow this business can provide. I've met several providers that have becoming a realtor as their next step. Good luck with that!

Many women could leave today, but choose to stay for many reason we have discussed on many occasions. But getting out now, or any time in the last 6 years, has been the most difficult time to transition than any other since the Great Depression probably. While I do applaud this groups efforts if sincere, I just dont know what they would propose as options to a single mom with a child or two and no SO or other means of support.

Aside from the resources below, individuals seeking help may also be eligible for TANF, AFDC, Food Stamps and many more other programs.
The resources are there, it's just a matter of informing others of what's available and what their options are.
