......that's what most say, depending on the situation/thread.
As for myself, I realize that I am just a guy. A stranger to the provider. Nevertheless, giving her a good impression of myself without faking is what I try to do.

I recently had a lady visitor from another state that I flew in for an overnighter. She hadnt even picked up her luggage when her phone rang. It was one of her boys calling to inform her that there was a female detective at the front door of her house. Turns out, her other two boys had been arrested the night before. I had already planned for us to get her settled in to my home, then go get a bite to eat. As it turned out, this gave her time to get info when it came to her without really "interrupting" our visit. She had to deal with this for the first 6 hours she was here(we scheduled a 24 hr. session)! Bless her heart.....she was scared for her boys. She was away from home and couldn't deal with this directly. She was embarrassed. She felt bad that this happened right when she got here. Folks, she got emotional. I offered to her, if she needed/wanted to go back home to deal with this directly and get it over with ASAP, that I wouldn't have a problem with it AND I'd help her find as early a flight back as possible. She couldn't do anything and didn't leave. I didn't want her to worry about me or what I thought because she had enough on her plate as it was. Fact is, I helped her and both of her boys with what to expect and say in front of the judge. I tried my best as a gentleman(and a stranger)to comfort her any way I could. She mentioned several times how much she appreciated my understanding. I had thought that my response was the norm, but apparently it isn't.
That said, it's pretty hard to make up the specifics of a story like that, had it happened before she left her house for the airport.
For me, it either has to be an honest reason, and those reasons that are given can be examined. In this case, my being 47 affords me the experience of having been in front of a judge at h age of 19, the same age as her boys. I know what to ask and what to expect as an answer, to determine if it was a real reason.
On the other hand, I think somebody already mentioned this, if she just didn't want to be here for whatever reason, I'd rather she cancel, instead of being with me when she'd rather not be. In that way, she'd be doing me a favor.
Yes, canceling ASAP when one needs to is appropriate, but being honest doesn't hurt either.
If a guy gets pissed, then she just did herself a favor, because any jerkoff that gets mad because life happens isn't worth her time or effort. When you're understanding, it WILL be remembered, and that's ALWAYS a plus!!!
Any NCNS happens because that person had taken it for granted and simply doesn't appreciate the pleasures derived from a session.
Life happens. There's plenty of clients/providers out here/there. Everybody on both sides is replaceable.

It ending up all over the boards?
Things come up. I know for me, family will always be #1.
I am not planning on cancelling any time soon but I have seen alot of complaints about ladies cancelling.. I just wonder what the best way is to go about that if necessary...?

I have had to cancel twice due to a personal family issue in those two times I have let the gents know in advance so they can make other plans.Sometimes things happen out of our control and people have to cancel/reschedule if you know you will not be able to make the appointment let the gent know asap that goes for the gents as well.
I would think a gent would understand if a provider needs to cancel who has a legitimate reason for doing so.
I can understand a complaint being voiced if a gent was cancelled on by a provider at the last minute with a BS reason or a ncns.

......I always offer my gentleman friend either a credit in dollars, or extended time, during our next date.  It's my way of saying, "I apologize for the inconvenience".

Hugs,
Kelly

Not all providers will do what you do in cases of cancellation, only the ones with CLASS.

have an attitude to "make it right" for the client. In retail, "the customer is always right" philosophy abounds.

Be honest. Life happens.

To be honest, I would much rather see you if you want to be there not because you have to be.
If you need to cancel. reschedule with the lady and make it up to her..

No biggie....

They will understand. Treat it like a business appointment that is important. In other words, there are certain people I call on in my business where I am looking for an excuse not to be there, but I still call and reschedule or apologize as soon as I know I cannot make it. On a date, I would treat it more like the business appointment with one of my best clients, the one where you will move things around on your schedule to make sure you see them. And I will cancel / reschedule if I just absolutely have to. In those case, I would always try to reschedule as soon as possible and l;et them know I am sorry, but the conflict simply could not be avoided.

Sometime stuff just "happens"...I had made a sort of last minute date recently with a lady who I just adore spending time with. She was very agreeable to changing her schedule for that day for my convenience, as I had a business appointment that was going to leave me fairly close to her location. At literally the very last moment she called me (note to self - get hobby phone) to let me know she was at her place, but there was a water leak and the floor / carpet was flooded and she had to call maintenance, etc.  So I understood totally, and we will plan another time soon. But I was not upset. However (just in case she is reading this, but truthfully) I was very disappointed !

As long as it is legit, not a pattern that I could not live with....honesty is always the best policy !

When the lady cancels it can be a big disappointment for the gentleman.  Well you would certainly hope it would be.  But an email saying that you are sorry but events have happened as soon as possible is very considerate.  But an offer to reschedule is very helpful.  I dont think discounts are neccesary or extended time but can be a nice touch.
On the other hand it happens to the gentlemen also.  And that is even scarier.  Sometimes the dudes end up on her DNS list are even worse.
I think if it happens once then its just real life happening,  if it happens twice it becomes a pattern.    Will it show up on the boards??  I would hope if it does names or handles would not be mentioned.

That's what they are going to believe anyway no matter reason you give (from what I've read on these boards, anyway). Apparently, that is much easier for them to believe than any actual cancel-worthy event like a family emergency or health issues.

I'm just wondering where they are even getting this theory from. I seriously doubt they are getting "tell alls" from other providers admitting that they really do this all the time. It just seems like there is this incredible suspicion in the motivations of the provider behind nearly every event that transpires that is described on these boards (at least by the guys). Worst case scenarios seems to be the first thing they jump to on a regular basis.

I give up. The bad apples out there seem to ruining it for the rest of us and there seems to be no undoing that.

One exception I can think of for the ladies not being able to give a lot of notice, is kids.  If the provider has kids at home, kids get sick and there is little you can do about it.  They aren't gonna tell Mom that they are going to be sick 3 days from now, they wake up sick.  That happened to me.

She emailed me at 6 AM that morning about a sick child, kid staying home from school, and we had a noon date.  You don't get up at 6 AM for no reason if you have kids at home.  Being a parent myself, I was ok with that.  I got in touch with her and we rescheduled.  No mention was made of any extras, but maybe she will give me a little extra time, not a big deal one way of the other.  With kids, it happens.......

I had a date scheduled a week in advance and he was driving an hr to come and see me to spend the afternoon with me.

That morning - my sister who I haven't spent more than a few min at time with in over six months shows up at my door.  She finally has a day free and she wants to spend it with me.

I couldn't get ahold of my date and let him know we had to cancel and I couldn't tell my sister I couldn't spend the day with her (might be another six months before she offers or has time), so the poor guy showed up at where I told him to be when he called for my exact address and sat there for thirty minutes trying in vain to reach me.  (phone was turned off - sister doesnt know what I do).

Later that day I wrote him a long apology about it and he said he totally understands.  I still feel really bad about the whole situation.

But anyway, life happens, and sometimes you just dont have any control over the situation.

Just try to give notice & be as honest as feasibly possible.
