Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, one night stands were not unusual. I was living in a condo in NCAL that we called a "stew zoo" because there were "flight attendants" from all over the world.
I met an all lifetime Swede, we went to dinner at a very luxurious French restaurant. Forty years later I still recall my entre' Duck with cherry sauce.
After dinner we went to a jazz fernbar with live music. We adjourned to her place, same as mine.

I have no idea what you mean by, "had 'one night stands' that endured?" Do you mean you had the intent of dating the person only once, but it developed into a long-term relationship? Do you mean you had sex on your first date and it developed into a long-term relationship? Does it mean a one night stand that has endured in your memory. I suppose there may be other variations that I have not spend the time to think of. But, "one night stand" and "endured" usually are not found in the same sentence. Just really want to know what you are asking.
That was what I thought he was trying to ask, but due to the sentence structure I found myself reading it several ways. Perhaps I'm just over-thinking it.

Mine happened when i was living in united Arab emirates/Dubai, and had no friends. On a hot Friday morning I was so bored and went for a walk by the beach. It was there when I happened to meet this Hot Persian Guy from San Francisco who was there for vacation,... one thing led to another and he asked me if I want to have a dinner with him at "Burj-al-Arab" which is the only 7 star hotel in the world and is famous for being so pricy!!! of course I did not think twice and said yes. He took me to the mall straight from the beach and bought me a beautiful outfit to wear at the dinner! after the dinner, we did not even make it to his room, and ended up having an steamy sex at the beach under the moonlight for a couple of hours, ...... the next morning, I dropped him at the airport for his flight back to states,.... and that was the last time I saw him ....
A long time ago when I came back from a land far away (Vietnam) as a young lieutenant, I met a bautiful young women at a social hour at the Marine Corp Recuit Depot in San Diego. would you want a one night stand to endure? Isn't the whole point that it is a one night stand? What makes it so memorable is that you will for the rest of your life be able to recall that one night partner to be as magnificently perfect as he/she was on that one night.
