to Canada.  Our friends to the north have, to me, always been much more sane and reasonable when it comes to issues taboo in this country (alcohol content, marijuana use, the inherent value of hockey).  Now it seems they've legislated in sensible favor of sex worker safety and, imho, a woman's right to do what she wants without harming society.

It sounds like the best of all worlds.

So it sounds like for the next year at least, hookers/johns are free to do whatever they like without the fear of prosecution, assuming of course they don't break any other laws which I would hope are already on the books, like forced human trafficking, etc.

There seem to be some amazing providers in Canada, and the Canadian people that I've met are very nice people. I'm just a freeze baby, I can't deal with the cold and snow for that long anymore. Heck, I moved from Ohio to the south because I couldn't stand  6 months of Winter.

They just struck down the laws surrounding prostitution that made it illegal..

In other words they decriminalized it. Its not like they passed the legislation telling hookers and pimps that they need to follow certain rules and regulations..

Until now, it was illegal to do activities surrounding prostitution such as soliciting, advertising etc, although sex for money itself wasn't.

to combat crimes of violence and extortion.

and I would hope that the Canadians would look to ANYWHERE but Nevada as a template when looking for a template to use for legalizing prostitution.

in that regard if any. Plenty of laws already on the books in any country that can stop violence, human trafficking and other abuse...

Last thing you want is illegal prostitution as a better option than legalized prostitution with government becoming everyone's pimp.

move back to America. Maybe it'll be decriminalized here by then. :)

s the visiting Montreal providers!

Sorry hammerhead, they only come to Oahu. They are thinking of adding Maui to their schedule, but I haven't heard of any Big Island tours. :

My only forays into Canada have been to the areas in Ontario north of Lake Superior. I was really surprised to find that the people there talk like the MacKenzie brothers.

I don't know if I could handle a provider saying, "so, you want a blow job der, eh?" or have her wearing a tuque while giving said BJ. ;)

Due to the actual legality of sex for money in Canada, independent escorts who have a web site and advertise on sites like the Pacific Escort Review Board (google it), BP or CL, don't have to worry about LE stings, etc.  I am friends with a provider in the Vancouver area, and she says that she has NEVER worried about law enforcement.  She only worries about asshole clients, so that's what her screening process focuses on.

So while LE here will place BP ads and arrest individual girls and clients in hotels, and sites like RS2K are used to screen LE, none of that is a concern in Canada.

And now, in Canada, groups of women will be able to rent a house, hire someone to protect them, and open up a safe brothel if they wanted to.
