Read the Washington Post story.  Karl Rowe is a Senior Political Advisor to President Bush.

Mr Rowe has been with with the President since the Texas Days and by all accounts is very good at what he does.  He is named as the person leaking the information.

Regardless of how You or I anyone else feels about the CIA and our methods of collecting intelligence, this kind of thing is beyond the pale.  Whomever leaked the story has put the woman at risk (especially if she leaves the country), and made her husband next to useless in the Foreign Service.  If intelligence and information about CIA Operatives is passed to people NOT in the National Security area, this information is not being treated properly and being used for political purposes.  The White House has claimed that intelligence information is NOT subject to political influence.  This leak suggests that the claim is probably a lie.   That makes me personally angry, I believed the White House claims.

Mr Bush should start his own investigation of this problem and fire the people involved.  My two cents...Harry

I agree that if Rowe is guilty he should be punished to the full extent of the law.  However, I have enough respect for Mr. Rowe's intelligence to think that this is most likely and empty accusation.  Even Former Ambassador Wilson said today on GMA that he doesn't believe it was Rowe, he added that he "felt" that Rowe may have known about it.  Wilson and Rowe have never been friends!

Rowe is a smart guy, to smart to do something this dumb.  I would focus my attention on lower level White House employees.

I also have to believe that 'Dubya' will go to all lengths to find out the truth and prosecute the guilty.

One last thing, with the absolute loathing of the left towards George W. Bush, this is the first hint of scandal in his 34 months as President.   In contrast, does anyone remember the first 24 months of his predecessors term?

What planet are you on? Does the name 'Enron' ring a bell?
'Kenny-boy' Lay? Secret meetings to establish energy policy involving now-known criminals who have yet to face prosecution thanks to presidential influence? The Vice-President refusing to divulge the substance and attendees of said secret meetings?
Clinton would have been crucified. If you take baseless allegations as scandal (this was established by Ken Starr, Republican lapdog) then you're right. This has teeth, and it's going to bite someone. Beyond compromising US intelligence personnel, it put at serious risk any foreign assets they used. I think we'll find that people died over this.
Don't forget, Rove is a past master of dirty tricks - or haven't you heard of his mentor's (Lee Atwater)invention 'push-polling'?
If Bush knew about it he should be impeached. If he didn't, he should have and so should be impeached.
I'm assuming you didn't see Condoleeza Rice yesterday, reduced almost to tears by questioning that she didn't dare answer and couldn't deflect.
The chickens are coming home to roost, and a flight suit isn't going to be enough protection.
Just my opinion, of course - we'll see how it plays out.

Please, Enron?

ALL of the corporate raiding was done in the years prior to Bush's election, it came out during Bush's administration, hardly a coverup!

AND I am sure that you are aware that Enron supported ALL politicians, including Al Gore and Gray Davis with millons!

I am also sure you remember TravelGate, The Stolen FBI Files, WhitewaterGate, etc and that Ken Starr was hired by Clinton's  Attorney General Janet Reno!  Was she too a Republican lap dog?

Now "Rove" (Rowe) is guilty because he knows Atwater?  And what was Atwater's crime?   Push-Polling?  Are you suggesting that Democrats don't use push polling?  If you seriously believe they don't you are either a liar or an imbecile.

Enjoy your snicker, I am pretty sure it will end with tears and hand ringing on October 7th!  And who knows, with Arnold as Governor, California may be the state to put Bush over the top in 2004!

I know we had 8 years without a modicum of Presidential Integrity, but don't project Clinton's "MO" on Bush.

P.S.  I'm still rooting for Dean in '04!

Bullshit. All those 'scandals' you refer to resulted in how many indictments?
Starr was chosen specifically because he was a republican flunky - the Clinton administration knew there were no 'smoking guns' to be found and realized, quite correctly, that a Democrat-friendly prosecutor would have no credibility with the rabid right-wing. Starr's final report grudgingly admitted that there was absolutely not a shred of evidence to implicate the Clintons in any wrongdoing save him getting blown in the oval office and lying about it.
Spin it any way you want, Karl Rove is the antichrist who, in the very best spirit of the original White House Plumbers would sell his grandmother to further his own ends and those of his masters, will be brought to task for this, along with (perhaps) Connie Rice et al.
Speaking of Connie Rice, isn't it funny that the national security advisor to the president admits that she knew about this leak months ago and also admits that she has taken absolutely no steps to find out who was responsible? That makes no sense, unless she already knew.
Now come back and chant your mantra, bribite: "Bush Good, Clinton Bad" - even though this has absolutely nothing to do with Clinton.

Not to mention that he was Impeached.

Hi Bribite

Did you ever get off a speeding ticket by telling the policeman that somebody passed you and was going even faster?

Neither did I.    Give us a break.  We aren't all superintellegent here,  However, that argument about Bush vs. Clinton doesn't cut if with regular guys like me.

It is President Bush's Scandal, it came out of the White House when he is President.  Somebody violated a federal law where the penalty is jail time.  The apparent reason for doing the leak is political.

If the leak came out of Mr Rowe's office, he is going to have to fall on his sword.  The person who did the leak should be going to jail.  The people who passed intellegence info to the politicial people should be fired.  After all, the Republicans RAN on the basis that they wouldn't have these awful scandals.  It is put up or shut up time and the leadership in the White House should stand up and be counted.

If it wasn't for that pesky 4th amendment, the "reporter" that broke the story should be going to jail with his "source".  However, since we have an inept Democratic party (without Clinton) and a weak press that is a whipping boy for the right, the SOBs have a very good chance of getting away with it.

My two cents again...Harry

Talk about this if you can:

At least one Bush administration official 'outed' a CIA operative to several members of the press in direct contravention of federal law.

The CIA filed a complaint about this with the administration in July.

Until this story broke on Saturday there was no effort by the Bush administration to investigate.

Bush spokesmen stated as recently as yesterday that they had no plans to so much as ask white house staff whether they had any knowledge of the leak.

BTW, we all know Bush is the most complacent president in US history as evidenced by his long and frequent vacations, but the word you were groping for is complicit.

I wasn't groping, I meant complacent!  Nobody has accused him of being "complicit"!  If nothing ¨HAS BEEN DONE in the Bush Administration to ferret out the leak I would agree that it would be despicable.  I also don't think that an investigation such as this would be reported to the press daily, weekly or monthly.

I wonder if you might give us your plan to accomplish this feat?  For all we know Connie Rice may be being investigated.  I remember the Nixon leak, "Deep Throat" who has never been ferreted out.  And if you think Nixon et al didn't attempt to find him/her, I think you forget their tenacity. It is not a simple task.

Yet another example of weird White House investigations is the missing Hillary billing records lost for months and then found sitting on Hillary's secretaries desk.  I guess "shit happens!"

However, for you to imply that this was done with full knowledge of the President, or that the President is "complicit" in a cover-up without ANY evidence is ludicrous.  This if far from a scandal, this is a leak, a dangerous one that must be detected and punished, but a scandal, not even.

* Clark Says He Would Have Voted for War
The New York Times, September 19, 2003

Gen. Wesley K. Clark said today that he would have supported the Congressional resolution that authorized the United States to invade Iraq, even as he presented himself as one of the sharpest critics of the war effort in the Democratic presidential race.

General Clark also said in an interview that he would probably oppose President Bush's request for $87 billion to finance the recovery effort in Iraq, though he said he could see circumstances in which he might support sending even more money into the country. . . .

* Democratic candidate seeks to clarify comments on Iraq resolution
San Francisco Chronicle Online, September 20, 3003

Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark backtracked from a day-old statement that he probably would have voted for the congressional resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq, saying Friday he "would never have voted for this war."

The retired Army general, an opponent of the conflict, surprised supporters when he indicated in an interview with reporters Thursday that he likely would have supported the resolution. On Friday, Clark sought to clarify his comments in an interview with The Associated Press. . . .

The Wesley Clark who as tactical consultant in the siege and final assault near Waco, Texas that executed, by a combination of toxic gas and fire, at least 82 people including some three dozen women, children and infants.

It's not a strawman, I just like pointing out that the long national nightmare of William Jefferson Clinton is over!

A story:

A young Marine guarding the main entrance to the White House in February 2001 notices an old man across the street setting on a park bench.  Soon, the old man approaches the Marine and announces that he is here to have a talk with President Clinton.

The Marine informs the old man that Mr. Clinton no longer resides here and is no longer president.

The old man thanks him and leaves.

The next day the old man approaches the marine and announces that he is here to talk with President Clinton.

Again the young Marine tries to explain that Mr. Clinton is no longer president and doesn't live in the White House anymore.

Again the old man thanks him and leaves.

The very next day the old man approaches the young Marine again and asks to see President Clinton.  At this point the Young Marine gets a little angry and says, "look, I've told you that Mr. Clinton isn't president anymore and doesn't live in the White House, what's wrong are you deaf!"

The Old Man smiles and looks the young Marine straight in the eye and says "No Sir, I'm not deaf, I just like hearing it!"

The young Marine salutes the old man smartly and says, "See you tomorrow Sir"!
