Who the frick is Karl Rowe?

Read the Washington Post story.  Karl Rowe is a Senior Political Advisor to President Bush.  

Mr Rowe has been with with the President since the Texas Days and by all accounts is very good at what he does.  He is named as the person leaking the information.  

Regardless of how You or I anyone else feels about the CIA and our methods of collecting intelligence, this kind of thing is beyond the pale.  Whomever leaked the story has put the woman at risk (especially if she leaves the country), and made her husband next to useless in the Foreign Service.  If intelligence and information about CIA Operatives is passed to people NOT in the National Security area, this information is not being treated properly and being used for political purposes.  The White House has claimed that intelligence information is NOT subject to political influence.  This leak suggests that the claim is probably a lie.   That makes me personally angry, I believed the White House claims.

Mr Bush should start his own investigation of this problem and fire the people involved.  My two cents...Harry

I agree that if Rowe is guilty he should be punished to the full extent of the law.  However, I have enough respect for Mr. Rowe's intelligence to think that this is most likely and empty accusation.  Even Former Ambassador Wilson said today on GMA that he doesn't believe it was Rowe, he added that he "felt" that Rowe may have known about it.  Wilson and Rowe have never been friends!

Rowe is a smart guy, to smart to do something this dumb.  I would focus my attention on lower level White House employees.  

I also have to believe that 'Dubya' will go to all lengths to find out the truth and prosecute the guilty.

One last thing, with the absolute loathing of the left towards George W. Bush, this is the first hint of scandal in his 34 months as President.   In contrast, does anyone remember the first 24 months of his predecessors term?

Clinton would have been crucified. If you take baseless allegations as scandal (this was established by Ken Starr, Republican lapdog) then you're right. This has teeth, and it's going to bite someone. Beyond compromising US intelligence personnel, it put at serious risk any foreign assets they used. I think we'll find that people died over this.

Starr was chosen specifically because he was a republican flunky - the Clinton administration knew there were no 'smoking guns' to be found and realized, quite correctly, that a Democrat-friendly prosecutor would have no credibility with the rabid right-wing. Starr's final report grudgingly admitted that there was absolutely not a shred of evidence to implicate the Clintons in any wrongdoing save him getting blown in the oval office and lying about it.

It is President Bush's Scandal, it came out of the White House when he is President.  Somebody violated a federal law where the penalty is jail time.  The apparent reason for doing the leak is political.  

If the leak came out of Mr Rowe's office, he is going to have to fall on his sword.  The person who did the leak should be going to jail.  The people who passed intellegence info to the politicial people should be fired.  After all, the Republicans RAN on the basis that they wouldn't have these awful scandals.  It is put up or shut up time and the leadership in the White House should stand up and be counted.

If it wasn't for that pesky 4th amendment, the "reporter" that broke the story should be going to jail with his "source".  However, since we have an inept Democratic party (without Clinton) and a weak press that is a whipping boy for the right, the SOBs have a very good chance of getting away with it.

I wonder if you might give us your plan to accomplish this feat?  For all we know Connie Rice may be being investigated.  I remember the Nixon leak, "Deep Throat" who has never been ferreted out.  And if you think Nixon et al didn't attempt to find him/her, I think you forget their tenacity. It is not a simple task.

Yet another example of weird White House investigations is the missing Hillary billing records lost for months and then found sitting on Hillary's secretaries desk.  I guess "shit happens!"
