"and cut credit lines if consumers used their cards at certain places. Among them: tire and retreading shops, massage parlors, bars, billiard halls and marriage counseling offices. "

"tire and retreading shops" to me means either tire stores, or places where you can get your tires retreaded.  What else do you get retreaded?

The headline was that using your card somewhere could may hurt your credit score.   But the article only said that they would cut your available credit, which might affect your score if that is your only credit card.

Boy if they ever started rating my credit based on where I use my card, I am probably just fine.

But either way, anybody who uses a credit card with an escort, or massage parlor also needs to have their head examined.

I noticed an escort ad recently that offered to take major credit cards, but after reading this I think I'll pass; but oh the miles I'll lose.

What the article says is that a single company was deciding whether to give more credit themselves based on what you charged on their credit card.

Your credit score (FICO) OTOH is determined by payment history, and how much you owe, etc.   It is not based on specific charges.

So getting a massage will not affect your credit score, unless you are using that specific brand of credit card which is for poor risk people.

...But I cannot understand why buying tires would negatively affect your rating with them though.  People who have a car need tires.

a cheaper form of retiring your car... Safe?  don't know.... but they are clear that what is considered in the way in which they report a credit score... is that they ARE including spending habbits... and not just how much you owe and payment history.....

Factors that indicate financial instability or habitual spending would suggest (but not prove) that one is a credit risk.  (welcome to the housing lending crisis)

OTOH.... would I use a credit card to pay an escort/or service?  only if I had dined with Hannible Lecter and he had served me a plate of sauteed brains... lol!  too easy to trace - too much information is contained in that little CC # and just not a wise use of the card....  would be better to use the card (if you wanted to go that way) and obtain a line of credit and get a cash advance... not tracable.

Off topic. Is this a song?

You'd whip it,
whip it good.

too many ladies have gotten into trouble because of CC's and you might wake up the next morning and find you have zero in your bank account ecause of to many disputes and complaints.
which guys do dispute if happy or not with service.
When I say trouble I mean with Le and they can pull all records which just might involve the guys. Then you have the tax man looking at your records too!
