That's great but...

I am curious to know, what is the typical lifespan of a provider? This appears to be an interesting industry where a woman can make a huge wad of cash in a short amount of time, relative to a sportsfigure.  And what do women in their mid 30's/40 end up doing once they leave the biz?  Do they change their lifestyle or do they save for retirement?

... they still have plenty of mileage left.  In fact, that's the age range I prefer.  Most still have their looks, and their skills and attitudes are usually far superior to those of their younger sisters.

Unfortunately, the providers I have known have rarely been good at saving money.  Wish it were otherwise.  As for retirement, some just keep on until they really can't get or keep customers anymore.  I once answered a massage ad where it turned out she was in her sixties.  I didn't leave, but I didn't go back either.

I am 28. I have only been in business for 1 year 3 months.
I plan on staying in the biz for a 5 year max.

I work full time during the day in Finance. I didn't want to quit my day job, even though the night job is booming!

I save and save all the cash I make from escorting. (What I first did was pay of debt.)
Also, I increased my 401(k) at work and about 4 years ago, I set up 3 Roth IRA's. Oh and 2 529 accounts for my daughters to go to college.

Oh, your lifestyle does change, even slightly. I did some small changes, and people took notice.

I can't say I disagree with the comment that there are ladies out there that rarely are good at saving money.  We have all heard the story or even may know of someone that is a "lifer", that has made a grand amount of money in her prime, but instead of using those funds wisely, lived the high life of champagne, travel to exotic places and has nothing more to show for it today and struggles. But as with everything else, there are those that play smart and those that do not.  Unfortunately, as always seems to be the case, it is the negative stereotyping that tends to take hold as the norm.

There are many ladies that do work toward something bigger.  There is a great many varying goals that ladies do work toward.  I think one of the major goals is working themselves through school or setting themselves up in their own businesses.  Another example is of a lady that has set the goal of using the funds to strictly pay off on her mortgage.  She will retire in another four years when that goal is reached and return to work without having to struggle in the manner she did before. Or the the lady that will probably be a lifer, but uses her funds to care for a family member that is grieviously ill.  Then there are those that do have successful careers elsewhere and use this for extra play money and fun.  There are just to great and many varying reasons for the ladies.

Many are single mothers which opens another can of worms all together.  They are faced with two prospects; not having the skills needed to single handedly bring in the bacon for a decent living for her children in the manner they would in a two income family, which is the norm these days and/or having those skills but having to trade off working endless hours to make that decent living at the cost of having childcare providers raising their children.  These women are to be commended for they are not depending on the system to help care for them or their children.  They have taken what life has thrown them and are doing it all (bringing in the bacon and being the mother they need to be) on their own merit.

A lady's goals, IMHO, determines exactly when a lady retires.   Those very much goal orientated average five to six years in the biz. Some longer, again depending the goals a lady has set for herself.

I have goals set for myself also. At the beginning, I had thought two years, but realistically, I believe four to five years will be it for me.  Depending on whether or not I meet someone after that retirement, will depend on whether or not I will still see a few of my fave clientele, although I will no longer advertise, for I do enjoy this so much also.

Older also doesn't necesssarily mean that one has been doing this since their early twenties either.  I began this only about thirteen months ago at the ripe young age of 33.  Proving once again that stereotypes cannot always be trusted.

Wise words, Lauren....I too, am new to this vocation. I have great respect for women who raise families alone, no matter how they do it. 25 years ago, when my children were young, I cleaned houses, did elder-care, day-care, cooked, tutored, did landscaping and gardening, took in ironing, washed windows, all to keep food on our table. After getting a county job and returning to school full time, I was still a hands-on-parent and didn't date for 11 years....I never knew another way to do it...This wouldn't have been an option for me back then, although I wish it had been....I had no family to help and I was all my kids had. As a single parent, I never owned a house, never had a new car or furniture, shopped at second-hand stores  and always lived from check to check...Not so today...I wish I would have known back then, what I know now...It would have been a much easier path to walk...Today as a Provider,Do I have another year, two, three..??? Only God knows, but all I do know for sure is, as long as there is a demand for what I offer...I'll be right here on TER..Giving 110% and loving every minute.....Peace, Robyn

some of us got married, had babies, and then decided to have some fun!  That's not just reserved for you children out there (yes, a fair number of you are the age of my children!).  There's room for many types here, and as best I can tell, both my clients and I are having a fine time!

not sure why that comment was in response to me.  Best of luck with your career and children.
