And sell toothbrushes.

But instead of apple pie, you'll have to go with a different flavor.

You approach somebody and say, "Would you like a piece of pie?"

"Yes, thank you," they'll say. Then they'll take a bite and yell, "This pie tastes like horseshit!"

And you say, "It is horseshit. Would you like to buy a toothbrush?"

and them bringing your drivel to another board to get beat up all over again?

and for the record I did see the other thread, but I was not one of the guys beating you up about it, even though it was every bit as stupid a post as we have grown to expect from you.

The woman is doing just fine on her own, why in the world would she want to take advice from a clueless wonder like yourself? If any other business was booming to the delight of the owner, so much so that he/she felt the need to hire someone to help out, would your advice be to raise prices to cut demand?

Sheesh, and you wonder why you are constantly the board piñata.

... how I got beat up a few days ago using a metaphor involving ice cream.

But at least now we have both apple pie AND ice cream.  ;)

For some reason your post reminded me of a bit Rich Little did years ago on Ronald Reagan and Reaganomics and pies:

RICH LITTLE (AS RONALD REAGAN): Suppose your mom bakes a big blueberry pie. Now that pie represents the wealth of this country. Now, take that pie and divide it in half. The top half is for defense spending. The bottom half is for domestic programs and the other half is for the national debt.

MAN: But sir, a pie has only two halves?

LITTLE: No, you don't seem to understand. So let's move on to another question...

seldom prevail when they meet real market conditions....

in real life,  providers often set rates that are on the high end in terms of their preferred business volume and then use some sort of "specials" to fill up their dance card - so prices are not in fact a static thing with indies most often....

For my part,  I have found that I can consistently see girls with 8.5 or better combined review scores at less than the average going rates here in the DC market area....

I personally have no motivation to spend more as I do not see a correlation between increased rates and quality of experience....

honestly the amount is not a factor to me - it is the end result - and I am quite satisfied with the niche I have chosen.....

Recently a lady posted about  having difficulty keeping up with all the calls she's gotten. When no one responded I thought I'd add my two cents and of course a bunch of dudes went ballistic. I said I believe she should raise her rates based on the market we live in DC. For whatever reason the dudes believed that if she raised them she would get no business.

I then compared her situation to selling apple pie

" If I wanted to sell slices of apple pie and I sell them at $1.50. I sell 10 of them, I have made 15 dollars.

Say Demand is high, I raise the price to 2.50 and now I only sell 6 on average instead of 10. I still made 15 dollars.

Am I still making the same amount of money? Nope, because there is also overhead.

Say it costs me .50¢ a slice to make them. In the 1.50 a slice scenario I net 10 dollars after overhead. In the 2.50 scenario  I net 12 dollars. So I am working less and making more because of less overhead. Even better if demand doesn't fall after a price increase, because I will probably go up to $3.00.

You guys and your business strategies lol."

No local ladies chimed in, any women Here have any thoughts on this?

You have no expertise in determining provider's rates. Your advice to her lacked a foundation, and was merely a kiss ass/suck up to get her attention. Stick to crawling and begging for dates and leave the business end to the providers.

Once again, Tidwit offers advice about things he knows nothing about.  What a shock.  And his apple pie analogy is totally wrong and not applicable.  He needs to realize he's still a complete noob and should stick to that board until he learns how to play the game.
Of course, the odds of that are slim and none.

They do it in private away from public boards. They don't want to enrage the hobbyists that they are trying to price fix the market. I had a session years ago where a provider called up other another provider telling her to raise her rates.

Your example does not consider the fact that ATMs give out 20 dollar bills. That is why prices are set in multiple of 20's.

I hope she does not take your advice and does find someone to help her as she is new and obviously is seeking some sound guidance. Hopefully she will figure things out, remain safe and won't burnout in a few more months.

Sorry you think P4P is like managing a lemonade stand. It so is not.

You always have the option to tip a lady based on what you feel she is worth if her current rate and your experience ranked higher in value for you. Those gifts are never expected and always appreciated and may keep her off her back for a few less hours a day... IJS

I can't find the specific article, but the Freakonomics guys analyzed some stats from Chicago, I think. Since I forget their conclusion, I can't post it.  Maybe someone will find a better link (to the specific article on rates versus profits).

They also did an analysis explained why so many drug dealers don't have cars and live at home with their Momma

The vast quantity of things you don't understand is mind boggling, especially where it comes to women in general and P4P in particular.

I think as a general rule of thumb, a person could just take your advice on any subject, do the exact opposite and be quite pleased with the results.

The prostitution story about their research in Chicago is in the second book Superfreaknomics.
Very interesting chapter of the book.
If people are curious google freaknomics prostitution they can find that chapter of the book.
The study was the difference between a high-end prostitute versus a street prostitute.

OK, so I'm having a big personal issue going on that is both time consuming and costly. I kind of moved to an hourly format temporarily, but have noticed ladies are in no rush to push me out the door. I haven't notice any uptick in, ladies saying they are booked or only do longer appointments.

So my question is the hourly format merely to get bad clients out the door quicker or am I just meeting awesome ladies who are all about the experience?

Side note: the ladies I met Friday and Saturday both said my daty skills are amazing. Just wanted to share, I put alot of effort in improving and was happy to hear it.
Are you now questioning that he's making this all up?

He's a pro...and knows everything there is to know about escorting.

Don't encourage him to post on the S&P board (or Newbie)...he's already spammed that with too many moronic suggestions.  Why in the hell would you think that his mindless babble on P4P would improve elsewhere?

I thought I agreed with GaG's post.  But when one of our Moron's In Chief agreed with it, too, I became uncertain.  I think it's explained by the old expression, "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then."

Seriously, there is so much about this you don't get it's scary.

I can't speak on another lady's business model. If she wants to keep her rates and be busy, she will. She didn't ask for a solution to her phone ringing, she asked for help setting up her business.

There is a difference in her setting up her business at it's current status, and setting it up to meet or max out the current market based on her demand as a newbie.

Any more discussion or breakdown of this topic I would be happy to discuss over drinks, you pay.

Depending on how the conversation goes, and your ability to understand what the hell is going, I may suck your dick. Market rate donation of course.

There's a pretty overdone story of the girl he advised to raise her rates who did and then later spoke at his conferences.

I see your point....I can't speak for other ladies, but in my personal experience, charging more means I can take less appointments and still make about the same. So just because I charge more, doesn't necessarily mean I am making more, but it does mean that I have more energy and can do a better job in every session. And I can enjoy the sessions more because I am less tired, stressed or in a rush. And I'm sure guys would appreciate a girl with freshness and liveliness, because then the session is more fun for them, too. But every girl is different. I just personally get too tired if I take on too many appointments in a day.
BUT I am not sure if this is good advice for someone just starting out...jumping to a different rate means new clientele, and before one makes that jump, it's probably good to have established some regulars who can see her at their old price, so she can still stay busy while she's waiting to build new clientele.
If this lady is overwhelmed by her volume of calls, I would suggest screening better instead of focusing on pricing. Just my
 Thoughts

Yes, it takes balls to jump to a higher rate. It might be slow for a while. Regulars will carry her through that period. ...off topic, it's dangerous to take every call. Getting lots of calls is common, but I only respond to a slim margin of my callers. (It's very easy to pass my screening, all a guy has to do is to follow my screening instructions. But many don't, and many say rude things during screening. This lets me know who is a gentleman and who is not.  if it's clear that someone is not, then this person is not worth seeing. It can lead to stalking, fake reviews, boundary crossing, etc.) I wish someone would have told me about the importance of taking the time to screen carefully when I was new...bad things can happen, worse than the things I just mentioned..screening prevents that, but also promotes compatibility, which leads to regulars, who are essential to this businesses...anyways sorry about my preachy rant lol. Once she has lots of regulars and has been doing this for awhile, then maybe she will feel comfortable raising her rates:)

Posted By: RodTidweLL
So your saying the goal is to establish regulars at a lower rate who she likes. So when she does raise her rates and loses some clients she still has a steady income base.

 I can understand that.

I'm glad you brought up energy level, mood, being rushed. When I read reviews these are the things that come up the most when a lady has a bad review.

 Great post.
