Conan the Grammerian doesn't scare me. If he hasn't took my head after the trillions of spelling and grammar errors in my posts so far, I think I am safe.

The general trend for most forms of mass written media is to skimp on editing and as a result, some articles are nearly incomprehensible because of poor spelling or grammar.  The internet is the worst, but newspapers and magazines have also gone downhill of late.

So, why should it be any better for amateurs?

I don't expect things to improve very much anytime soon either

Better start sleeping on your back with your eyes open.

He would have further pointed out that Droopy Dog should have said "Grammatical" errors, instead of "Grammar" errors.

Not to mention that Conan, besides being a putz, is a "Grammarian" not a "Grammerian" . I guess even a pedantic putz like Conan needs some help every now and again.

but he still did better than TER admin who attempted to correct the OP's "puncation"  error, before pulling the evidence after being called on it. lol

... that you're referring to the OP's use of plural subjects and a singular verb form?

You may want to meet with Conan personally. I would suggest a late afternoon meeting.

He is much nicer after his nap.

When I was in college I used to pay good money to get my papers edited. It is how I pulled off good grades in spite of writing at a kindergarten level. I don't find people pointing out my grammatical errors, I find it a kindness instead. People pointing out such things helps me improve, slowly to be sure, but improve nevertheless. My goal is to write at a fist grade level someday. Thanks, GaGambler, and Jake.

it's the multi paragraph reviews..."I got in the car, turned the key, and drove to her incall location" cut to the chase already.

I can get a chuckle from the occasional slip, but there’s no reason to ridicule or disdain.

For one thing, not all have had the same education or have the same facility with words. These deserve credit for their courage in trying to express themselves, no matter how inelegantly.

For another, none of us is immune. Autocorrect loves to humiliate us. Fingers fall into patterns and type “there” even though we know it should be “their.” Typos have an uncanny ability to evade the most obsessive proofer. And sometimes the brain simply farts.
