when running 4 or 5 programs at once. I never understood what "low on resources" meant, what with 80 gigs, but I only have 128 RAM so that can get tied up in bondage more easily.
I never learned this stuff in carpentry school, and hate to use up any of my miracle powers unnecessarily, since I save those for the water to wine gigs. LOL

that doesn't work and I have to re-boot, a fancy way of saying pull out the plug and then plug it back in.

I can surf for hours and everything is fine, but invariably when I use TER, the computer locks up. I was typing this post before and in the middle of typing the computer froze.

Has anybody else experienced this phenomen with TER? Is there anything I can do about it short of not visiting TER?       (Like Henny Youngman, who went to the Dr. and said it hurts when I do that {lift his arm}; the Dr. said - "don't do that").

Probably something screwed up in your Internet Explorer that is clashing with some activeX control or code used in the website.

I would recommend updating your version of IE or even just reloading it if you are already on IE 6 or 5.5 or whatever is latest.

The updates section on Microsoft usually has the service packs.

I've got an old piece of shit HP Vectra series 4 Pentium 166 with a 1.7 gig hard drive and 128 K ram that some company was going to throw out and I only had that problem when my hard drive screwed up, and never when reading reviews,or being on line with TER. I also have ATT broadband cable..

My next move is a 10 gig hard drive then a sound card..

BigPapasan,

Not knowing the full configuration (hardware/software/operating system) of your computer it is rather difficult to accurately pin-point what might be causing the freeze.

Most times, these freezes occur when the computer is low on resources.  These days, most of the software applications require a considerable amount of RAM space.   If you have several programs running concurrently, your computer will run out of RAM space/resorces and will not know what to do.  It will wait for some free RAM space, and if it isn't available freeze (simply because it is confused as to what to do).

For starters, I would recommend when you are browsing through TER reviews, close all other programs.   Also, you may want to delete your temporary internet files, disk clean, and defragment your harddrive.  

See if any of these make a difference.  Hope this helps.
